'Every police officer Involved In the Makoko church raid must be arrested' - Lagos lawyer

Ayo Ademiluyi, a lawyer and activist has demanded that all police officers involved in the May 11th raid of the Acts of the Apostles Church also known as Ori Oke, in Makoko community of Lagos State be arrested.

In a chat with SaharaReporters at the church premise, the lawyer said the raid on the church was in contravention to the judgment of Justice Ikuborido of Lagos High Court of 1984. He affirmed that the raid which resulted in the death of not less than five people and several others injured was illegal.

“We are well aware of the position of the Lagos State commissioner of police, Edgal Imohimi on the issue in trying to prosecute some officers in these respect. It is on record that The Punch Newspaper of this morning had given us a report that the most senior officer involved in the killings at the place have been arrested and under detention. We want to put it on record that he is not the only high ranking police officer involved in this issue,” he said.

He continued , “We have the Deputy Commissioner, Criminal Investigation, Panti, DC Yetunde Alonge must be immediately arrested and detained for unlawful killing, murder and arson in this place. Chief Superintendent of Police with AP number 23822, Mr. Edobo Edemoghe must also equally be arrested, detained and arraigned with immediate effect as a matter of necessity. Superintendent of police, Mr Tobi Oloruntoba, DPO, Makoko Police Division, must also be arrested and detained forthwith. Inspector Seun Awoku aka Ijaya of Anti Robbery Squad, was equally involved in the killing and arson in this particular place, and we will not take the particularization of individuals or the prosecution of just one police officer, we are calling for the arrest, detainment, arraignment, trail and prosecution of all police officers involved in this injustice.”
He also spoke on the relief the church community is asking for over the incident. “We want the state governor to give a state wide apology to the people of Makoko and accept blame for the killing and arson committed here in his place through the Lagos State Land Grabbers Task Force and the office of the Attorney General and commissioner of justice of Lagos State.‎

"The Lagos State government must also as a matter necessity rebuild this particular church and oher demolished buildings as fast as possible. All persons undergoing medical treatment, their medical bills should be taken up, the families of the victims who were killed be taken care of and those police officers involved that have been identified must be detained and subjected to trial. We want immediate end to demolition, attacks, arson, and killings in Lagos. We have the case of Odotu Gbame which is still burning. Lagos State government has already turned that place into an estate – Periwinkle Estate.”

He said that failure to meet all these demands will be met with political and legal resistance against ‘a government that has made its citizens refuges in their own country.’

Police release mugshot of 17-year-old Texas high school shooter, Dimitrios Pagoutzis who killed 10 people

Police release mugshot of? 17-year-old?Texas high school shooter,?Dimitrios Pagoutzis who killed 10 people

Law enforcement officers are still searching Santa Fe High School in Texas and other locations for explosive devices after a gunman opened fire at the school on Friday morning, leaving at least 10 people dead and another 10 injured in what Gov. Greg Abbott labeled “the worst disaster to ever strike this community.”

The suspect 17 year old Dimitrios Pagourtzis is in custody in connection with the shooting. Pagourtzis allegedly used a shotgun and a .38 revolver in the attack, Abbott said in an afternoon press conference.

“Various kinds of explosives,” including a “CO2 device” and a Molotov cocktail, were also found in a home and a vehicle and there is potential for explosive devices in other sites being investigated” the governor said.

It appears the devices were made by the shooter but that could not be “solidly confirmed.” Officials are still “working on a total number of explosive devices,” which may be in the suspect’s “house, car and other two locations. Law enforcement is still in the process of undertaking searches and investigations of the entire scene and other locations this is just the beginning of what will be a very robust response” the governor added.

President Trump has since ordered the American flag be “flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, May 22, 2018.”

Over 100 people killed as Cuban Boeing 737 carrying 113 passengers and crew explodes moments after taking off from Havana airport

Over 100 people?killed as Cuban Boeing 737 carrying 113 passengers and crew explodes moments after taking off from Havana airport??

Today, a Boeing 737 plane crashed moments after taking off from Havana's Jose Marti International Airport, killing over 100 of its 113 passengers and crew barely 24 hours after more than a third of its fleet were grounded over safety concerns.

Cuba's newly sworn in president Miguel Diaz-Canel confirmed there was a 'high number of casualties' after the internal Cubana de Aviacion flight crashed into a yuca field near a high school, in the Santiago de las Vegas neighborhood, on Friday.  Just three survivors have been recovered so far - all in critical condition, according to Cuban media.

Photos of the scene show fire crews attempting to put out the still smoking wreckage of the aircraft which was devastated in the crash. Debris was left scattered across the surrounding area after the explosion.

Hospitals in the capital, including the General Calixto García University Hospital, are bracing themselves for the arrival of the survivors, Cuban state media Granma reports. Flight DMJ 0972, which was headed for the city of Holguin, in eastern Cuba, was carrying 104 passengers and nine crew when it crashed at 12.08pm local time.

The cause of the crash is not clear but witnesses at the airport terminal reported seeing a huge fireball followed by a giant plume of smoke rising in the distance. Diaz-Canel arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. 'The news is not very promising, it seems that there is a high number of victims,' he told AFP.

Cuba's national airline, Cubana de Aviacion, has been plagued with safety issues in recent years due to its aging fleet and only yesterday, more than a third of its fleet were officially grounded. The company which has a fleet of 16 with an average age of almost ten years old received an order from the Cuban National Aviation Authority to ground its six An-158 aircraft due to 'serious' technical and safety issues including cracks and mechanical issues, according to Airline Geeks.

"Trump twice asked me the difference between HIV and HPV," Bill Gates dishes on his meeting with Trump

"Trump twice asked me the difference between HIV and HPV," Bill Gates dishes on his meeting with Trump

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has spoken about his meeting with Donald Trump and he revealed quite a lot; including that Trump twice asked him the difference between HIV and HPV and knew a “scary” amount about Gates’s daughter’s looks.

Gates made the revelation at a recent Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation meeting, where Gates took questions from staff, according to MSNBC’s All in with Chris Hayes show, which broadcast the footage on Thursday.

Gates told the audience how Trump had met his daughter Jennifer, now 22, at a horse show in Florida.

Gates adds:
And then about 20 minutes later he flew in on a helicopter to the same place. So clearly he had been driven away but he wanted to make a grand entrance in a helicopter.
Gates himself met Trump for the first time in New York in December 2016, he recalled:
So when I first talked to him it was actually kind of scary how much he knew about my daughter’s appearance. Melinda [Gates’s wife] didn’t like that too well.
They met again in March last year at the White House.

Gates continued:
In both of those two meetings, he asked me if vaccines weren’t a bad thing because he was considering a commission to look into ill-effects of vaccines and somebody – I think it was Robert Kennedy Jr – was advising him that vaccines were causing bad things. And I said no, that’s a dead end, that would be a bad thing, don’t do that.

Both times he wanted to know if there was a difference between HIV and HPV so I was able to explain that those are rarely confused with each other.
Gates made his audience laugh when he recounted one particular incident from his meeting with Trump

Gates said:
When I walked in, his first sentence kind of threw me off. He said: ‘Trump hears that you don’t like what Trump is doing.’ And I thought, ‘Wow, but you’re Trump.’ I didn’t know the third-party form was always expected. ‘Gates says that Gates knows that you’re not doing things right.’
Following Gates revelation, Tara Dowdell, Democratic strategist, told MSNBC host Chris Hayes:
We’re looking at a president that doesn’t know the difference between HIV and HPV but he has memorised Bill Gates’ daughter’s appearance.

So if he spent more time actually learning policy, if he devoted just a quarter of the time that he devotes to harassing women and gawking at women to actual policy, memorising and learning policy, I think the country would be a lot better off.

N20 Billion debt: AMCON takes over Stella Oduah’s assets

N20 Billion debt: AMCON takes over Stella Oduah?s assets

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has taken over Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd. and other assets belonging to Senator Stella Oduah over an unpaid debt of about N20 billion.

AMCON said the takeover followed an injunction granted by Justice M.S. Hassan of the Federal High Court, Lagos against Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd. The corporation in a statement by its Head, Corporate Communications, Jude Nwauzor on Friday said that Oduah-Ogiemwonyi had been having a running battle with AMCON over her inability to settle her huge debt of nearly N20 billion.

The statement said that AMCON purchased the Eligible Bank Assets (EBAs) of Sea Petroleum & Gas from Union Bank Plc. sometime in 2012. It said that in spite of overtures and genuine efforts made by AMCON to reach an amicable settlement, the senator and her co-promoters had remained recalcitrant. “Having exhausted all avenues of peaceful resolution of the humongous debt, AMCON had no other choice than to refer the matter to court,” the statement said.

It said that the order also affected the senator’s other business interests for which AMCON had since appointed Moyosore Jubril Onigbanjo (SAN) as receiver over the assets of Oduah-Ogiemwonyi; Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas; Sea Petroleum and Gas FZE as well as Star Tourism and Hotels Ltd. The statement said that the court also ordered the freezing of the funds of Sea Petroleum & Gas and its affiliated companies and principal promoters, held anywhere by any entity or persons in Nigeria. It also authorised AMCON and its receiver, Onigbanjo to take over all assets pledged as collateral for the facility by Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd.

“In compliance with the order of the court, AMCON through its receiver, Moyosore Jubril Onigbanjo, SAN, today (May 18), simultaneously took possession of the assets of Sea Petroleum & Gas Ltd. and its affiliated companies. Justice Hassan specifically, ordered Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd. and its affiliated companies to hand over the company’s business, which sits on over 9000 square kilometres of land in the fastest developing area of Lagos State along the Lekki-Epe Expressway,” it said.

Other affected assets, according to AMCON, are two tank farms of 500 metric tonnes capacity; a property at Maiyegun Tourism Zone, Lekki Peninsula Scheme 11, Lagos Island and a filling station complex at kilometre 14, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikota, Lagos.

The court order also listed a host of other assets across the country, including Plot 2, Block 12C, Babafemi Osapa Crescent Lekki; Block 5, House 4A Mobolaji Johnson Estate, Lekki, and office/filling station at Jakande in Lekki, Lagos, among others.

'Oprah Winfrey smokes weed' - Her longtime best friend, Gayle King reveals

Oprah Winfrey, who's admired as one of the respected and richest women in the world is a 'marijuana smoker', according to her best friend and CBS News anchor Gayle King.
Gayle was featured on the Ellen Degeneres Show recently and she revealed that the media mogul does weed.
The News anchor was discussing marijuana with comedian Amy Schumer during the show when she made the statement. She said she has never used cannabis, but couldn't say the same about her BFF.
“Oprah has also smoked a little marijuana, too. I don’t mind saying that,” King said. “I’m not telling tales out of school.”
When DeGeneres asked if Winfrey “likes” getting high, King declined giving more information by saying: "I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate her," King said when pressed for details. "It’s not something that happens on a regular — I’m going to change the subject.”
The CBS News anchor also went on to reveal that she’s interested in trying marijuana for the first time.
“I’ve gone all this time without smoking…am I missing something?” she asks. “I prefer to be high on life. I’m so glad to be on the planet doing the jobs that we do.”

Court bars Ikoyi Registry from conducting weddings

Court bars Ikoyi Registry from conducting weddings

The Lagos State Government has secured a court injunction restraining the Federal Government’s owned Ikoyi Registry from conducting marriages.

The state government in the court paper filed before the Lagos High Court, argued that it was unconstitutional for the Federal Government owned registry to carry out marriage rites when it is legally the right of State Government and the Local Governments.

The judgment delivered by Professor Chuka Aunstine Obiozor with the reference number SUIT NO: FHC/L/CS/1760/16 and which took effect on Monday 30th April 2018, reaffirmed that all the marriage registries in the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos are the authentic and legally-binding government division established to carry out such function in the state.

Addressing a Press Conference on the court judgment today Thursday May 17th, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, said the Ministry was in the process of officially communicating the development to the various embassies in the State. He added that the decision of the court was supreme and was legally binding on all institutions in the state, the embassies inclusive.

The commissioner went on to say that the judgment would undoubtedly put a stop to the seeming perception that weddings that take place in Ikoyi registry are superior.
“We are going to use the five divisions across the state to sensitize our people and inform them about this latest development. From Epe to Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja and Lagos Island. The sensitization walk which we embarked on today is also a way of creating awareness and letting the people know of this latest development'' he said
Also speaking at the press conference, the President for Marriage Registrars in all LGs/LCDAs in Lagos state, Deji Sokeye, said the illegal use of power by the Ikoyi Registry had seriously and negatively affected the revenue drive of the various Councils in the State. Sokeye recalled that a similar judgement was delivered in favour of the state government in 2004 but was disregarded by the federal government.

US Senate confirms Gina Haspel as the first female director of CIA

US Senate confirms Gina Haspel as the first?female director of CIA

President Trump’s nominee for CIA director, Gina Haspel was confirmed today by the Senate, with help from several Democrats who backed the nomination despite concerns over her role in post-9/11-era interrogation and detention practices.

The Senate voted 54-45 to confirm Haspel, with a handful of Democrats voting in support. The vote came a day after Haspel was recommended in a 10-5 vote by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Haspel will be the first woman to lead the agency. She will replace now-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, served as the base chief at a black-site prison in Thailand in 2002, where techniques such as waterboarding were used on terror suspects. But Republican supporters accused Democrats of politicizing her nomination, and initially trying to derail an otherwise highly qualified nominee.

At her confirmation hearing last week, Democrats grilled her on her views on what they deemed torture, as well as objecting to what they saw as the CIA’s selective declassification about information on her. She was also questioned at length about the 2005 destruction of more than 92 interrogation tapes a move she said she supported to ensure the safety of CIA agents. Haspel refused to criticize her colleagues and superiors for their conduct during what she called a “tumultuous time,” but said the CIA under her watch would not resume such techniques. She also defended her own conduct.

“After 9/11 … I stepped up. I was not on the sidelines, I was on the frontlines in the Cold War and I was on the frontlines in the fight against Al Qaeda,” she said in response to a question from Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

Haspel’s confirmation had been in question after Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., later joined by Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., said he would not vote for her.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) today seized four tonnes of Tramadol drugs at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos.

The NDLEA commandant at the airport, Ahmadu Garba, in a chat with newsmen, said the seized consignments were imported into the country through the United Arab Emirates (UAE) airline, Etihad Cargo and that the antinarcotic agency is yet to determine the importer of the banned substance.

Garba said the first batch of the two consignments arrived Nigeria on April 23rd 2018 while the second consignment arrived on April 25th at the airport. He explained that the two consignments arrived in four waybills while the fifth waybill arrived its command yesterday and that the command only got hold of the consignment today after the owners refused to come forward for clearance.

“We collected the consignments from the Skyway Aviation Handling Limited (SAHCOL) shed today (Thursday) and we got to know of the consignment even before it arrived the country through our foreign intelligence. Since then, we have been monitoring it and waited for either the importer or any clearing agent to come forward for clearance, but no one came. The approved dosage for Tramadol is between 50m and 100m, but what thee importer brought into the country was 250m, which is above the approved milligrams by the government. The total waybills were five.”
He added that the command had made a total seizure of 187.22kgs of illicit drugs between January and April this year. The breakdown of the seizures indicated that cocaine was 1.88kg, heroin; 4.48kg, cannabis Sativa; 15.64kg, methamphetamine; 41.06kg, ephedrine; 89.06kg and, Phenacetin with 8.2k.

Lagos State Chief Judge declares state of emergency following the discovery of 2,886 old case files, including a 70 year-old-case

Lagos State Chief Judge declares??state of emergency following the discovery of 2,886 old case files, including a 70 year-old-case

Lagos State Chief Judge, Justice Opeyemi Oke has described the discovery of about 3,000-backlog of cases in different Courts across the State as alarming, promising that the Judiciary, under her watch was determined to reverse the trend in order to restore public confidence in Lagos Judiciary and make administration of justice quicker and more efficient.

According to her, the Courts in the State are presently in a state of emergency following the evaluation of 2,886 old case files, including a 70 year-old-case, under its Backlog Elimination Programme (BEP).

Justice Oke, who disclosed this while launching “The Lagos Backlog Elimination Programme 2018 (BEP)” at the Foyer of the High Court of Lagos State, Igbosere, said the programme is designed to decongest the courts by re-evaluating old cases and finding ways of resolving them through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or accelerated hearing.  She maintained that the BEP initiative was conceived as part of her desire to substantially tackle inordinate delay of court cases, court congestion and fulfilment of her promise to redress these two problems on assumption of duty.

The Chief Judge lamented that “Delay has led to public ridicule of the judiciary which is supposed to be the hope of the common man. This delay, coupled with the continuous filing of new cases has led to congestion in Courts with a ridiculous number of a backlog of cases, the result of which the courts are now in a state of emergency. Presently there are hundreds of cases in the court dockets aged over 5 years, the oldest of which is a 70-year-old case. This is a far cry to what can be said to be a reasonable time. Ideally, the matters ought to be concluded in weeks, months or at most a year. Many of these cases ought not to be in court at all as they could have been resolved through ADR”, she noted.

Citing Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, she emphasized that the rights to fair and reasonable timely trial before a court or tribunal is one of the fundamental rights of Nigerians.  This, according to her, necessitated the need to urgently revert the status quo and redress the situation through the BEP and Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR. Justice Oke averred that the first phase of the BEP which is on-going, involves the evaluation of old cases in batches by volunteers from different law firms, adding that they are through with the first batch involving case files between five years and above; the second batch involves case files of 10 years and above while the third batch comprises of case files from 15 yrs and above. She said work is on-going on files involving case filed aged 25 years and above.

“After evaluation, facts of each case are summarized, causes of delay identified and recommendation would be made as to efficient means of disposal whether by ADR or accelerated hearing”, she said.  Giving details of the cases involved, Justice Oke informed that land matters accounted for majority of the backlog cases, followed by commercial matters which are based on breach of contacts, debt recovery, mortgage matters, bank and customers related disputes, matrimonial causes, probate and enforcement of judgments, adding that many of the cases are at trial stage.  On the possibility of settlement, the Chief Judge stated that while some of the cases are not suitable for ADR, others could be resolved through the mechanism; the remaining cases would either be struck out.

She added that some of the parties have reportedly settled matrimonial causes but that settlement to ancillary reliefs would be referred to ADR. Oke further disclosed that inefficient case management by counsels accounted for 59 percent of the delay in the backlog cases evaluated so far, stressing that other causes included delay occasioned by court indisposition, protracted settlement period, court not sitting at various intervals due to official assignments, interlocutory appeals and numerous interlocutory applications brought before the court.

She revealed that under the second phase, the re-evaluated cases would be referred back to the court for Case Management Conference (CMC) by a special order of the Chief Judge of High Court of Lagos State and based on individual recommendation, referred to Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA) and other ADR institutions for resolution by mediation or arbitration as the case may be.

Why Meghan, Harry and the clueless Palace may come to regret the day they left the backstabbing, money-grabbing Markles out in the cold

British TV Personality Piers Morgan has written a lengthy piece about how the Royals have let the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turn into a mess. He also warned that the Royals might come to regret not involving the "backstabbing, money-grabbing" Markles in the wedding plans.

What a mess.
Weddings are supposed to be wonderfully positive occasions filled with love, romance and good cheer.
A chance for two families, and two sets of disparate friends, to come together as one to celebrate the union of a happy couple.
Fat chance of that with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, which has swiftly descended into an acrimonious, disorganised fiasco - and there are still three long days until the big day.
Most of the blame for this falls on Meghan’s family, who’ve conspired to behave like a bunch of repulsive PR-crazed Kardashians, exploiting their girl’s royal romance for as much money and residual fame as they can squeeze out of it.
From the moment Harry and Meghan went public with their engagement, barely a week has gone by without ever-tackier revelations exploding from the Markles.
It’s been the most outrageous, uproarious family reality show in town:
We’ve had the drunken, violent, drug-addled, estranged half-brother Thomas Jr. penning viciously worded letters to Harry demanding the Prince dump his ‘narcissistic, shallow, selfish’ sister.
We’ve had the seething, sniping, bitter, twisted and equally estranged half-sister Samantha spitting cruel bile about Meghan to anyone who will stick a few dollars in her grubby little pocket. Only today, she’s launched a fresh attack, spewing away about her ‘right’ to trash talk Meghan.
And now we’ve had the father of the bride caught with his greedy snout in the paparazzi trough, cashing in on his daughter’s wedding with staged photos that were sold around the world.
As best-selling romantic novelist Lisa Kleypas said: ‘Weddings are never about the bride and groom, weddings are public platforms for dysfunctional families.’
I just never thought the day would come when a family marrying INTO the royal family would be more dysfunctional than the royal family itself.
But here we are.
Unlike many seem to, I have little sympathy for Thomas Markle.
There’s absolutely no excuse for what he did in taking money from a paparazzo to stage those photos.
Not least because in doing so, he made Kensington Palace look utterly ridiculous.
Prince Harry’s own communications director sent out stern warnings to the media ordering them to back off Thomas Markle after seeing the photos and wrongly assuming he’d been the victim of a cruel invasion of privacy.
In fact, Mr Markle was invading his own privacy – for a big fat cheque.
Now, you might think he’d have learned his lesson, kept his head down and tried to rescue the last remnants of his dignity – if only for the sake of his poor daughter.
And you would be wrong…
Instead, Mr Markle’s doubled down on his idiocy.
Since the Mail on Sunday exposed his cringe-making sham, he’s been sharing his thoughts on an almost hourly basis with TMZ – a fine showbiz website, but not previously noted for their expertise on the inner workings of British royalty.
First, he told them he was mortified by the embarrassment of the story.
Then he claimed he’d had a heart attack last week, so wouldn’t be attending the wedding.
Yesterday, Mr Markle was back with more exclusives; he’d changed his mind and wanted to be at the ‘historic’ wedding.
Then, last night, he told TMZ he now needed urgent heart surgery, so wouldn’t be able to go after all.
TMZ, perfectly understandably, has splashed these juicy revelations across its site and generated huge clicks and attention for itself in the process.
As a former tabloid editor, I commend their brilliant news-breaking journalism. They’ve got the whole world waiting with bated breath for details of their next conversation with Meghan’s dad.
But also as a former tabloid editor, I am utterly incredulous as to why Thomas Markle is continuing to collude with tabloid reporters?
And I’m even more incredulous as to what the hell Kensington Palace is playing at in letting him?
The Palace staff has completely and shamefully lost control of the narrative of this wedding.
From the moment it was announced, they should have taken immediate steps to ensure Meghan’s family were protected from the inevitable massive media attention heading their way.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that when a handsome British Prince marries a beautiful American actress, global press interest is going to be off the charts.
Yet Thomas Markle, currently the world’s most famous father-of-the-bride, has been left to fend for himself 8000 miles away.
So he’s made his own decisions as to how to handle the media, aided and abetted by his ghastly daughter Samantha, and they have turned out disastrously.
Why on earth didn’t Kensington Palace either send people to Mexico to advise him, or fly Mr Markle to London? It’s not as if Harry and Meghan can’t afford to put him up for a few weeks – they’re both rich and live in a giant palace full of spare rooms and servants.
(Harry hasn’t even bothered to meet his future-in-law – how weird is that? And now won’t be able to at all before he makes the poor man’s daughter his wife.)
The result of this farcical incompetence is that Meghan’s had to spend the most stressful week of her life with a hundred times more stress than she could have ever imagined.
I imagine she’s been utterly distraught at her father’s conduct.
There have been reports of her tearfully begging him on the phone to change his mind and walk her down the aisle.
What a terrible situation for any bride to find herself in.
I also imagine that Harry’s been utterly furious.
For someone who hates the paparazzi and tabloids to see his soon-to-be father-in-law in cahoots with the paparazzi and tabloids will have enraged the headstrong young Prince beyond belief.
On the other hand he might reflect that if he and his big brother hadn’t been so controlling and privacy obsessed, constantly warning the press not to ‘intrude’ on Meghan’s family then Mr Markle’s collusion with said press would never have been so embarrassing.
This will be his, and the Palace’s worst nightmare: a major player in the biggest day of his life going rogue.
Perhaps things will sort themselves out by Saturday but I doubt it.
From the sound of things, the only member of Meghan’s entire family who will be there is her mother, who is also the one that’s so far kept her mouth shut and behaved with decorum.
That fact alone would fill me with deep concern if I were the royals.
 Who ARE these Markles?
What further mayhem are they going to wreak, especially now they’ve all been snubbed from the wedding?
Hell, as we’ve already seen, hath no fury like an estranged relative scorned.
I don’t think Harry and Meghan can escape some blame here.
By excluding from their 600-strong guest-list all of Meghan’s family – many of whom have only said nice things about her and the wedding - and some of her oldest friends, they’re surely creating an even bigger problem down the road?
Sometimes, a wedding is a good chance to settle old grievances, rather than cement them.
They’re now going to have a lot more disgruntled Markles bristling with anger at being snubbed, especially when they see celebrities like the Beckhams sitting in ‘their’ seats in the church.
So the Markle reality show will roll un-edifyingly on, and the Palace appears worryingly impotent and incompetent in its efforts to control the tidal wave of tacky titillation cascading from their lips.
As for how all this washes up, my heart hopes Harry and Meghan will brush off the wedding chaos and live the fairy-tale happily ever after.
My head, though, views with mounting concern the wildly erratic behaviour of the Markles, and I find myself murmuring: ‘There may be trouble ahead…
