$1bn arms fund: ''President Buhari will seek approval from National Assembly'' Presidency

$1bn arms fund:

Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has dismissed speculations that President Buhari will bypass the National Assembly to give full approval for the release of $1 billion for arms purchase.

One Wednesday, President Buhari gave the approval of the fund for the purchase of arms for the military. PDP in a statement released by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbodiyan, called on the National Assembly to sanction President Buhari for giving approval for the release of the money without the permission of the lawmakers.

Adesina, in an interview with Channels TV today, said President Buhri will still seek approval from the lawmakers before fully releasing the funds for arms purchase. He also reacted to claims that the fund released was to execute President Buhari's re-election bid.
''As we speak now the communication to the National Assembly is about ready. Those who have been flexing muscles over the matter should just have bothered to make inquiries from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters. If they had inquired they would have been told that the communication would soon be on the way to the National Assembly. Talking about the timing, there is no timing that is not good for security. Every time is security time. Those who are reading political meaning into it is just unfortunate they play politics with everything and they will play politics with the very lives of Nigerians, which is very bad,’’ he said.

Former UN staff, Abdullahi Shuaibu jailed two years for robbery

Former?UN staff,?Abdullahi Shuaibu jailed two years for robbery

Yesterday, a Court in Manhattan sentenced Abdullahi Shuaibu, 53, who worked at the UN in 2013, to two years in prison after an exhaustive plea agreement with the court.

It was a stunning defeat for the prosecutor who had asked that Shuaibu be sentenced to five years under the indictment.

Shuaibu pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree; one count of Robbery in the Third Degree, a non-violent offense; and two counts of Grand Larceny, also non-violence offense. Grand larceny, also known as a grand theft, is the intentional taking of someone’s property or business under illegal conditions.

Shuaibu received two years for the one count of Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree and one year for the Robbery in the This Degree and one year for the Grand Larceny to run concurrent with the two years sentence. Therefore, Shuiabu is expected to be released from jail in about six months, having been arrested on April 18, 2017 for a string of bank robberies in New York.

He was initially charged with robbery in the first degree, where he was facing 15 years in jail, according to his lawyer, Olayinka DanSalami. However, the prosecutor was unable to sustain that charge before the grand jury, explained his other lawyer, Tim Pruitt, who represented him at arraignment. During the plea negotiation with the court, the court had offered Shuaibu one year prison term, but the judge changed her mind after the prosecutor submitted to the court a letter purportedly written by Shuaibu to obtain an office in New York.

The defense attorneys had contested the accuracy of the letter and informed the court that the prosecution produced the letter because they were still upset that they were unable to get Shuaibu on a more serious charge However, the court refused to re-offer its original offer of one year. Rather than pleading to just one count under the indictment, the prosecutor also insisted that Shuiabu must plead guilty to all the four counts under the indictment.

At that point, his lawyers suggested to him to re-consider his position to plead guilty and go to trial, but Shuaibu was very tired of staying in prison without knowing what going on trial would hold. DanSalami said he would have preferred a sentence of probation or one year at the most, even though the plea was a good plea in the realm of things. After the sentencing, Pruitt advised Shuaibu of his right to appeal and one of his paralegals met with Shuiabu to go over the appeal process.

''My tribal marks made me very insecured for a very long time'' Actress Funke Adesiyan

Funke says her tribal marks stopped her from making many moves in life because she felt they made her look ugly. According to her, she could have been the first beauty queen with a tribal mark if she had not allowed it get in her way. Sharing this photo above on her IG page, she wrote
''Growing up as a child, I was a slim, tall, leggy beauty! I was the girl everyone wanted to be friends with. Most guys would lie to their friends I was their girlfriend. Cars would follow me home from the bus stop and my Grandmother (God rest her soul) would haul all the insults at me for walking provocatively on the street. I'd argue with her it's what my job ethics called for as I was a top model with Modela Agency and the street is our runway most times. Arguments would end on a slap note for talking back at her or keeping mute on her! Parents!!! You are never right with them. How I miss you Alhaja?
Everyone admired me and would shout "hot stepper" when I walk. But this hot stepper had one pain she nursed in her heart- my facial marks. I felt it was a hinderance for me being a beauty queen, being a super model, being a flawless model! Each year, Uncle B, Modela, would prepare me for the big stage and I'd chicken out last minute for fear of my "flaw". The only person I shared this with was my other self when I looked in the mirror. I would spend minutes wishing I know the old man who marked my face and question my parents why it had to be me of all my siblings.... Fast forward many years later, I realized the only person who stopped me from achieving my goals as a would be beauty queen was myself. My self esteem was so low I supressed myself on many frontier... maybe I'd have been the first beauty queen with facial marks?
It's ironic how people wanna be you and all you see about yourself is a chubby face or a flabby belly. Not so cool. We need to constantly see beyond our supposed flaws, they are all in our heads. If you do not feel beautiful skin deep, you can't feel beautiful on the outside. No one can love you than you. If you like kill yourself in the quest of looking "perfect" because of a man or a woman, you will still see yourself like a bag of shit on the inside. For true perfection is inside out and it's a place only you can find.
Would I remove my facial marks today? Hell NO! I love how artistic they look?? Moreso I need no one's validation to feel beautiful or live life. You like me, Thank you. You don't like me, I don't expect everyone to.?
