Man who married his sister, undergoes cleansing, apologizes

A teacher, Chiadiakobi Ezeibekwe who married his 17-year-old sister, Chibuzor has asked for forgiveness after the entire family of Lewis Ezeibekwe, on Saturday, underwent a spiritual cleansing conducted by the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ekwulobia, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Onwuatuegwu.
The Ezeibekwes from Agba community in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA of Anambra State also cancelled the controversial marriage between two siblings in the area. According to Punch, the priest, who read from 1 Peter 24:2 of the Bible, warned against incest.
He said, “This issue does not concern only the family of Lewis, it concerns the entire Ekwulobia. We are in a world that has disintegrated. This cleansing is important for all of us and the entire country.
We are here to make reparation for the sin that is already rampant in our society. I am particularly touched by this boy, Chiadi. When I came to Ekwulobia, I met him as a boy yearning for the things of God.
He was the leader of the block rosary group but here we are today. When I heard the story, I was taken aback. Only God knows what happened.”
Before the church service commenced, eight members of the Ezeibekwe family knelt down before the traditional ruler, traditional prime minister and elders of the community and apologised to the entire Agba  Ekwulobia community.
Chiadikaobi also asked for forgiveness from the community for marrying his sister. He said, “What we did was wrong and an abomination to our community. I feel pained in my heart.
I did not do it because I was hungry for a woman or attracted to my sister. I apologise to everyone. I am very sorry for bringing all of you out here under the sun. Please forgive us.”
Also, Chibuzor said, “I ask for forgiveness.” After the cleansing rites, seven girls said to be virgins, clad in white dresses, used seven palm frond branches to sweep the Ezeibekwe compound.

We were so poor that my whole family once relocated to the village when I was 9 because we couldn't afford rent - Ifu Ennada

We were so poor that?my whole family once relocated to the village when I was 9 because we couldn

Evicted Big Brother Naija housemate, Ifu Ennada shares yet another touching story from her past.

This time, she writes on how her 4year old brother died right in front of her because they couldn't afford healthcare and how her family once relocated to the village because of unpaid rent.

Read her story below....
My name is Iheme Faith Uloma Adanne, popularly known as Ifu Ennada - The Ifu Ennada.

As a child I always had massive dreams, but the challenges I experienced "so many times" were overwhelming that I contemplated suicide several times and lost myself along the way... I remember when I was 9yrs old, my whole family moved to the village, while my dad stayed back in Lagos to hustle... Our rent had been long overdue and the landlord could only but kick us out.

It was a terrible time for me, but what was more terrible was helplessly watching my 4yrs old younger brother die in front of me - in my mother's arms, my mother who would have given her life in exchange for his.

We were so poor, that even there in the village we couldn't afford average healthcare... Instagram would be unable to take record of the number of times I was abused in a number of ways... My life's journey has been one tough but inspiring one. For each time I was down, God always came through, in form of His Word, but most importantly in the shape of people - good people who remind me that humanity is BeautIFU! and that the world isn't evil.

These good people include all of you reading this, all of you who would never give up on me. All you wonderful people who care about me in ways I can't imagine.

Coming out of the Big Brother House, I didn't know such massive love was awaiting me and now as I am set for what's coming, I want you all to know that I am who I am because of God and you.

I don't take you for granted and my love for you will always be never ending.

Thank you!

XO,
Ifu Ennada

30-year old bus driver arrested for robbing and raping OAU student

30-year old bus?driver arrested?for robbing and raping OAU student

Yusuf Waheed, a 30-year-old commercial driver has been paraded before newsmen for robbing and raping a female student of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife.

Following a report by the victim, Waheed was apprehended by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS. Waheed, a father of three, was said to have committed the offense on 25th of February 2018.

Femi Joseph, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command disclosed to newsmen that Waheed was taking some passengers from Akure to Abeokuta but stopped by the bush to commit the rape when all the other passengers had alighted and he was left alone with the lady.

Joseph said, “after all passengers have alighted from his vehicle, Waheed was left with the lady (name withheld) and mediately drove to nearby bush. He brought out a knife and threatening the lady and disposed her of Infinix handset, Huawei IPad, cash sum of N4,000 and other valuable items. As if is not enough, Waheed forcefully had a carnal knowledge of the lady and she reported the case to the police in the station and we swung into action”.

While blaming his escapade on the devil, Waheed said he has been driving for over 17 years and wondered what led him to commit the evil act. “I had been driving for over 17 years and this kind of thing has never happened to me but I think it is devil’s work. I drive for almost 16 years in Abuja in which am not involved in any crime throughout of my stay. I have a wife and three children. I don’t know what comes over me, maybe it was because I relocated to Abeokuta” he said.

Nigerian Army denies allegations that Dapchi schoolgirls abduction was planned in the villa and executed with N80m

Nigerian Army denies allegations that Dapchi schoolgirls abduction was planned in the villa and executed with N80m

Read the press statement from the Nigerian Army
1. The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a news report making round on Facebook and other social media to smear and drag the Nigerian Army into politics of calumny by mischief makers, that one deserted Sergeant David Bako leaks how Dapchi Girls abduction was planned in the villa and executed with N80 million. The information was said to be provided by Sergeant David Bako who claimed to be deserted soldier and one of the abductee of the Dapchi School Girls. The Nigerian Army therefore put the record straight that it has crosscheck it records and cannot find any one call Sergeant David Bako who neither serves in the Army, deserted or dismissed. The Nigerian Army therefore disassociate itself with such fictitious report and request the public to disregard the confession made by the so call Sergeant David Bako who has not been in the Army at all.
2. It is imperative to know that these baseless and inane allegations are not new in the cyber space, knowing the fact that we are in the age of information warfare. Open Source Intelligence reveals that the website Dailyglobewatch.eu with country code top-level domain (ccTLD) .eu used in publishing stories is obviously fake and therefore not correct. Based on our findings the website was registered on the 14 of April 2017 and the last updated was on the same date and will expire on the 14th April 2018, we are very familiar with reports of this nature and will advice the general public to disregard such claim and desist from sharing such information on the New Media as this is against the Nigerian Cybercrime Act 2015.
3. However, it is really worrisome to the level at which some people could condescend so low to fabricate facetious allegation against the Nigerian Army and the military at large for cheap political gains or simply an act of pure wickedness, thus the public should disregard such facetious allegation.
4. The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate its commitment to remain apolitical and non-partisan in the discharge of its constitutional roles. We would also like to reaffirm our unconditional support and obedience to civil authority as well as reassuring Nigerians that these Fifth columnists will not succeed in their mischief as they will be fished out and dealt with accordingly.
5. You are please requested to disseminate this information to the general public through your reputable medium.

''It is undemocratic and unacceptable'' PDP reacts to President Buhari's order to security agents to deal with anyone making political fortunes from terror attacks

PDP has issued a statement condemning president Buhari for directing the security agents to deal decisively with anyone that attempts to make political fortunes from terror attacks witnessed in any part of the country.

President Buhari gave the charge to the military when he received the freed Dapchi girls last week Friday.
PDP in a statement released today, says the order is undemocratic and completely unacceptable. Read the statement below
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejects as undemocratic and completely unacceptable, President Buhari's comment that security agencies will deal decisively with any persons or group that dares to criticize the handling of security under his administration.
The PDP, as a party, after a thorough review of all issues and the fact that nobody, apart from the President himself, politicized the Dapchi issue when he boasted that his response time was faster than that of former President Goodluck Jonathan, hold that President Buhari’s pronouncement on alleged politicization of security issues is targeted at emasculating opposition and those with contrary opinions to the views of the APC interests.
The President’s statement completely betrays a dangerous political intolerance and utter disdain for the rule of law and constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and opinion of citizens in a democracy.
PDP is constrained to remind President Buhari that our nation is no longer under the rule of military decrees and tribunals where security agents “deal(t) decisively” with citizens for holding opinions.
Our dear nation, Nigeria, and her people, has since 1999 chosen a democratic order where there are clear laws guiding expression of opinions.
Our 1999 Constitution (as amended) also confers the adjudication of any violations in that regard with the courts and not with security operatives.
Nigerians are aware that the present APC government has become intensely distraught, having been rejected for its misrule, and will not hesitate to deploy every available means to inject fear into the citizen and prevent them from freely expressing themselves and voting according to their consciences during the 2019 general elections.
President Buhari should however note that Nigerians can no longer be intimidated or cowed as they are now, more than ever before, ready to protect their constitutionally guaranteed rights as enshrined in our constitution.
While the PDP is against any action by any citizen to undermine our security system, especially for political reasons, we insist that where such occurs, it must be addressed by procedures and processes provided by the laws of our land.
We therefore join all well-meaning Nigerians to urge the military and all security agencies not to allow themselves to be used against the people.
Finally, the PDP calls on the United Nations and the international community to note and condemn this dangerous trend in our country.

Drunk man dies after mistakenly consuming insecticide at a restaurant in Lagos

Drunk man dies after mistakenly consuming insecticide at a restaurant in Lagos

A tipsy man died after mistakenly consuming insecticide, thinking it was water, at a restaurant in Lagos on March 24.
The man had reportedly attended a wedding in Aguda, Surulere, where he drank a bit too much. He then proceeded to a Chinese restaurant on Adeniran Ogunsanya street, Surulere, to hang out with friends.
While there, he ordered a bottle of water. But prior to that, a staff of the restaurant had forgotten a plastic water bottle that contained insecticide on the table. The tipsy man mistakenly drank the insecticide thinking it was the water he ordered and it began affecting him moments later.
His friends attended to him when he began acting up and he opened up to them that he drank something thinking it was water. He was rushed to a hospital in the area where he eventually died.

Ex-Catalan leader, Carles Puigdemont arrested In Germany

Ex-Catalan leader, Carles Puigdemont arrested In Germany

The police in Germany today arrested Catalonia’s former president, Carles Puigdemont as he crossed over by car from Denmark.

Puigdemont “was arrested today at 11:19 am by Schleswig-Holstein’s highway patrol force,” a German police spokesman told AFP, adding that the detention was based on an European warrant.  “He is now in police custody”, the spokesman added.

Puigdemont’s party spokeswoman Anna Grabalosa also separately confirmed that he was detained on arrival in Germany from Denmark.  “It happened as he crossed the Danish-German border. He was treated well and all his lawyers are there. That is all I can say,” she said.  Puigdemont is wanted by Spain on charges of “rebellion” and “sedition”, over his independence bid for Catalan.  He had been visiting Finland since Thursday but slipped out of the Nordic country before Finnish police could detain him.

His lawyer Jaume Alonso-Cuevillas, said on Twitter that Puigdemont was picked up by German police as he was travelling back to Belgium where he had been living in self-imposed exile.

Man arrested for touching hawker’s breast in Ondo State

Man arrested?for touching hawker?s breast in Ondo State

''PDP deserves de-registration for utter failure'' Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) deserves to be deregistered for utter failure both as ruling and opposition party.

The Minister said this at a press briefing in Lagos where he gave an update and clarifications on the released schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state. He said the disgraceful and insensitive comments made by the party over the abduction and release of the Dapchi girls, points to the fact that they have lost their relevance.
“What called for non-partisan celebrations was rather thoughtlessly turned into politics, bad, despicable politics that has no place in any democracy. At times of national tragedies, countries unite. This is the norm everywhere. Indeed, there should be a new criterion for withdrawing the registration of a party like the PDP which has failed both as a ruling and an opposition party! If a party cannot rule and cannot be in opposition, what else can it do?
“Perhaps we should ask the PDP what indeed the party knows about the abduction of the Dapchi girls, going by its statement that their abduction and release were stage-managed. The party made itself a laughing stock within and outside Nigeria with that statement. Don’t they know that our international friends are involved in the process that led to the release of the girls?’’ he said
Speaking further, Lai Mohammed said the Federal government will not tolerate politicians trying to score political points with national tragedies.
“Government would not tolerate any attempt by any person or group to trivialize or politicize security issues for politically motivated ends. Accordingly, security agencies would not hesitate to decisively deal with such unscrupulous characters. Those are very clear words that need no elaboration.” he said

PDP reacts to Lai Mohammed's call for their certificate of registration to be withdrawn

PDP reacts to Lai Mohammed

Read the press statement from PDP this evening below
Our attention has been drawn to a press statement by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, wherein he demanded that the certificate of registration issued to the PDP by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should be withdrawn because the PDP lost in an election and according to him, does not know how to function as an opposition party.
We want to alert all Nigerians of a clandestine plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government to strangulate the main opposition party and plot the way for the self-succession plan of their candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Our party has been following all the schemes and shenanigans of the APC as 2019 general elections draw nearer.
The main plank of the plot is to ensure that President Buhari runs as a sole candidate in 2019. To achieve this grand plan, they must work to exterminate all known and perceived political opposition platforms in our country.
Is it not strange that a party who, in its almost five years of existence, cannot constitute a Board of Trustees (BoT) in line with the provisions of its own constitution will be asking INEC to withdraw the certificate of a party whose all organs are intact and effectively functioning?
Is it not also laughable that a party, who cannot hold even a non-elective convention, will be calling for the withdrawal of PDP’s certificate?
It is imperative to tell Alhaji Lai Mohammed and his cohorts in the APC that any masquerade that dances first will eventually have to watch the dance steps of others from the stand.
It is clear now that the APC and its Federal Government have come to their wits end. All they need to do now is to sit by and watch Nigerians collectively return the PDP to powers and by so doing restore the nation to the path of unity, national cohesion and economic prosperity come 2019.
