''Those who voted Buhari in 2015 should ask God for forgiveness'' Governor Fayose says

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, who is a strong critic of the Buhari administration, said this when he spoke to representatives of teachers, local government workers and private sector operators who paid him a courtesy visit in the state house in Ado-Ekiti, under the Oshoko Mass Movement(OMM), a political group.
“Those who voted Muhammadu Buhari as the president of our country must seek for forgiveness. His leadership has brought unimaginable hardship and misery on the people. The killing is too much and if he continues in office the hardship will be intolerable. They said he would come and make the difference and make things better but the reverse is the case. Unemployment is second to none and he has killed the economy and made the people poorer. The level of nepotism is also unprecedented. Even their so-called fight against corruption is laced with favouritism and is one-sided,” he said

Fayose during his speech, lamblasted the former governor of the state now Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi, for allegedly not using his office for the benefit of the state.
“There are natural deposits across Ekiti, President Muhammadu Buhari spent N40 billion searching for crude oil in the north, what is Fayemi doing to unearth the minerals that abound here?” he asked
Fayose thanked Ekiti teachers and parents for making it possible for the state to take a big leap in the secondary education sector. He applauded them for endorsing his deputy,  Kolapo Olusola, as his successor.

''Perish your thoughts of staying beyond 2019'' PDP tells President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to perish the thought of staying in the Presidency beyond May 29, 2019, as Nigerians have rejected them.
The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Monday, said the President already knows he has failed adding that such accounts to why he is no longer confident whenever it comes to issues of 2019 general elections.

The party said President Buhari’s media adviser, Femi Adesina, only confirmed the obvious when he announced the apprehensions being entertained by the President over the 2019 race, adding that he, (President Buhari) must have appropriately assessed and rated his administration as a failure.

Stating that the President would not be bordering about opponents if he had done well in office, the PDP also charged the APC and the Presidency to end their current attempts to use paid fifth columnists in their failed bid to cause disharmony within the repositioned and rebranded PDP.
It is instructive to note that the Presidency’s comment is coming after the intimidating PDP mega rally in Dutse, Jigawa state, which sent a clear signal to President Buhari and the APC.
If President Buhari had done well in office; if his government had not wrecked our economy; if his government had not damaged our national unity, resulting in the daily bloodletting in our country; if his administration had not betrayed the people and failed in delivering even the littlest of his campaign promises, President Buhari would not be afraid of any opponent ahead of elections as stated by his media aide.
From Mr. Adesina’s comment, it is clear that the President is fully aware that he has become grossly unpopular and cannot command any electoral value. Both the President and his party must therefore instruct themselves appropriately and completely bury the thought of staying in office beyond May 2019.
We therefore advice the Presidency and the APC to jettison any plot to force its way using intimidation, coercion and manipulations as such would be firmly resisted by Nigerians.
In the same vein, we charge the APC and the President to note that its resort to sponsoring fifth columnists on smear campaigns against our repositioned and reinvigorated party has become of no effect as our members and supporters in all the states and the six geo-political zones across the nation are now, more than ever before, firmly united under the new leadership of the party to vanquish the APC in the 2019 general elections.
Finally, the re-positioned PDP re-assures Nigerians of level playing ground and open political space in all processes leading to the selection of candidates at all levels to ensure that the nation gets the leadership it desires and ultimately return to the path of national unity and prosperity.

Miyetti Allah react as police arrest 54 of its members in connection with an attack in Taraba State

Miyetti Allah react?as police arrest 54 of its members in connection with an attack in Taraba State

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria today said the arbitrary arrest and persecution of its members by the police and the Takum Council Chairman, Hon. Shiban Tikari, was inimical to peace.

The Northeast Zonal Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Mafindi Danburam, stated this at a press conference in Jalingo.

According to him, some Miyetti Allah members had on Wednesday, March 14 went to Bantaje Cattle Market to sell their cows and while on their way back, 52 of them were arbitrarily arrested by the police under the instruction of Takum Council Chairman, Hon. Shiban Tikari, and were later transferred to the state police command in Jalingo.

“We have visited the command and demanded for reasons for their arrest, charges against them and the complainant statement which have not being made available to us,” he said. The zonal chairman called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP. Ibrahim Idris to intervene on the matter.

“We are really in the hands of elements of destruction who believe that a Fulani man has no right to live and enjoy his right as a citizen in Taraba State. Takum is now a no-go area for us. Our people are being killed, their animals maimed but nobody has been arrested for these crimes”, he said.

When contacted, Taraba State Commissioner of Police, David Akinremi said 54 persons were arrested following information the police received that there was a mass movement of people suspected to be the perpetrators of some violent attacks at Bawe, Panshen, Muji 1 and Muji 2 villages in Takum local government area.

He explained that his men acting on intelligence intercepted four vehicles loaded with herdsmen, adding that some natives alleged that the suspects had positioned themselves to launch an attack in the area.  Akinremi said he ordered his men to bring the suspects to the state command in Jalingo for interrogation to determine their innocence on the allegation.

The commissioner said even though nothing incriminating was found on the suspects, the police had already conveyed 41 of them to Kashimbilla who claimed to have cows domiciled in the area for further investigation.

“About 41 of the suspects claimed they have cows at Kashimbilla. So, we need to verify if there is any evidence that they took cows to Bantaje for sale. We may probably find out from the native and middlemen if they had performed any transaction with them. Five of the suspects confessed to be cattle rustlers, while six were believed to be among the perpetrators of the violent attacks in Takum and it’s environs in recent times,” he said.

On his part, the Chairman Takum local government, Hon. Shiban Tikari told journalists that as a council Chairman, he was duty bound to report suspected criminals to the security operatives for necessary action.Takari said the number of herdsmen spotted, coupled with the fact that they were not grazing cows, raised suspicion because herdsmen normally troop into the area with their cattle on their way to Kashimbilla around November and December not in March, more so that we are currently being attacked by herdsmen.

“The recent attacks on Panshen, Bawe, Muji 1 and 2 villages, and the information at our disposal that marauders were planning more attacks in Mudi, Tati and Manya made us to be security conscious. So, there my alarm was in order. We must as leaders make efforts to promote peace and not give criminals room to operate,” he said.

We must jail culprits to reduce building collapse - Babatunde Fashola

We must jail culprits to reduce building collapse - Babatunde?Fashola

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has said that jailing any professional responsible for collapsed building would serve as deterrent and prevent reoccurrence.

Fashola made this assertion in Abuja when he appeared on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) flagship programme, NAN Forum.  “How many professionals have been jailed for collapsed building? Once you jail a professional in the same way you sanction a medical officer for negligence of conduct with regard to his patients or a legal practitioner with regard to his clients. Then you have sent the clearest message that those who build houses for people owe a duty of care to ensure that they build according to approved design and specifications. And that the approved design standard are also followed to the letter, you don’t short-changed your materials,” he said.

The minister stated that there must be consequences when people violated the National Housing Code, adding that it was not the responsibility of the ministry rather a law enforcement that could assist us.  Speaking on affordable housing, he recalled that the board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) were recently inaugurated to boost it.  Fashola said that the two were important agencies to help government deliver on the policy of affordable housing, noting that the FMBN was saddled to finance while the FHA was to build.

“By the time I started, it seemed that the two agencies are competing so we are trying to realign that; we are also engaging the support of states to come unto the National Housing Fund (NHF). We also want to extend the impact of NHF to cooperatives for unions, artisans among others, so that we can have non-governmental workers too contributing to the fund and benefiting from it. We are looking at the possibilities whereby cooperatives can also take housing fund loan and build houses for their members. This, he said, could go a long way to reduce the housing deficit and make housing affordable to all" he said.

''President Buhari did not query IGP for flouting his order to relocate to Benue'' police spokesperson, Jimoh Ibrahim, says

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, says contrary to media reports, the presidency did not queried the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, for flouting the directive of President Buhari to relocate to Benue state after the January 1st massacre., Recall that last week Monday March 12th, President Buhari found out during his sympathy visit to Benue that the police chief did not relocate to the state after the attack that left over 70 persons happened.

A tweet released by the presidency on March 13th, said President Buhari had summoned the police chief and asked for a comprehensive report on Police Operations in the affected States, after which further decisions will be made. The tweets below...

Many Nigerians thought the president's summon was a query to the police chief and had gone ahead to suggest to President Buhari to fire the police cheif.
However in a chat with Thisday yesterday, the Nigeria police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, said there is no truth to the reports that the IG was queried by the president and that ayone that has a copy of the query should present it.
The IGP was not queried. There is very clear issue on that, that he was not queried by the President. Anybody that said the IGP was queried by the president should bring the copy of the query, let us display it,” Moshood said.
He argued that those speculating that the IGP had been queried by the president were just trying to cause disharmony and disaffection, with the intension to distort facts.

Imo police arrest couple for allegedly killing their daughter and lacing her with a rope to fake suicide

Imo police arrest couple for allegedly killing their daughter and lacing her with a rope to fake suicide

The Imo state police command have arrested a couple, Damian and Prisca David, both from Taraba State, over the controversial death of 13-year-old girl, Veronica David, who is said to be a stepdaughter to Prisca.

Punch reports that the couple who both serve as secuity guards to businessman, Johnbosco Ozugbo, have been accused of repeatedly subjecting the deceased  to physical abuse. Last Friday March 16th, the couple beat the girl until she slumped. When they confirmed she was dead, they called one John, an accomplice, to buy rope so they can fake that the deceased committed suicide. However, their neighbors that suspected foul play contacted the police who immediately stormed their home and arrested them.

''The couple are security guards at Johnbosco Ozugbo’s house at Ogwuaga Abba. They were living with their stepdaughter until the incident. They had always maltreated the poor girl. They were beating her that Friday morning as usual when she slumped and died. They then called one John to help them to tie a rope around the girl’s neck for it to look as if the girl committed suicide. But neighbours who suspected foul play alerted the Police at Nwangele Divisional Police Headquarters. The couple were quickly arrested and the corpse retrieved. The third person was later arrested by the police.”a source said
Also speaking, the employer of the couple, Johnbosco Ozugbo, said
''My security guard called and informed me that his daughter had committed suicide and that he needed an advance salary to take her corpse to Taraba for burial. I was worried about how a 13-year-old girl would take her own life. On inquiry, I was told that his wife, Prisca, hit the girl with a plank on her head and that she died immediately. A boy in the compound told me that he saw the woman hit the girl with the plank. I quickly involved the Police and the couple was arrested. The boy who claimed to have seen the woman kill her own stepdaughter went with them to the Police station to put it in writing. The corpse is ready for autopsy. I will ensure that justice is served,”.
While confirming the report, the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said he had ordered the homicide section of the Command to take over the matter.
