INEC to screen Kano state's 5million registered voters and remove children from the list

INEC to screen Kano state

With exactly 4,975,701  registered voters, Kano state is a huge political force but concerns have been raised over the high incidence of underage voting in the state. To tackle the menace, INEC has set up a panel to purge the register of underage voters.

The eight-member committee is headed by a National Commissioner, Abubakar Nahuche. The commission however says the exercise will not be completely efficient because many of the underage voters look like adults and records are not available to confirm their age. The Chairman of Kano SIEC, Prof. Garba Sheka disclosed that members of the INEC committee would visit his office on Monday 26 February to begin the age verification process. He stated,
“INEC officials will come on Monday. When the committee arrives, we will give them the register. They gave us soft copies and we will give them back the soft copies given to us. We will also give them hard copies we produced. They have a lot of work. They will go through it and sort out the children; if there are any, they will remove them.”
Sheka, however, maintained that children did not vote in the recently concluded local government election in which the All Progressives Congress cleared the 44 chairmanship seats in the local government areas. He accused the PDP and the Kwankwasiya faction of the APC headed by former Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of fabricating reports of underage voting.
He said:
“We are reviewing the pictures with our software. Most of the pictures were 2015 election pictures. It is more or less like blackmail but we expected such because before the election started, the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) members opted out and they are the major opposition party that could have won something if they had contested.
There was the Kwankwasiya faction of the APC, which was not allowed to contest. So, they will definitely want to discredit the exercise. At least, 85 per cent of all the pictures we reviewed on the child voter issue were 2015 election pictures. Today, a child of 15 could look close to 30 especially if they are tall. In Nigeria, we have a problem with detecting age since we don’t have records. So, those who look very young are the only ones that can be detected.”

List of the 105 schoolgirls abducted in Yobe State – Parents

Parents in Dapchi, in Yobe State, said they had set up a support group after Monday’s raid, which has revived memories of the 2014 abduction of more than 200 girls in Chibok.
“Our first step was to compile a comprehensive list of all the missing girls. So far, we have compiled the names of 105,” said Bashir Manzo, the chairman of the newly created group.
Heavily armed jihadists stormed the boarding school in the remote town, forcing terrified students to flee into the surrounding bush. But with many girls failing to return home, fears are growing that dozens of the girls have been kidnapped.

2-year-old found stuffed in trash bag "nearly decapitated," dad charged with murder

2-year-old found stuffed in trash bag "nearly decapitated," dad charged with murder

A Chicago man has been charged with murdering his 2-year-old son and he allegedly confessed to investigators soon after the killing.

The 37-year-old father, Rolando Ortiz allegedly told investigators he used a knife to slash his child Mateo Garcia Aguayo's throat, nearly severing the boy's head from his body. Rolando Ortiz is now facing first-degree murder charges after killing his son because the boy was running around and keeping him awake.

At a Thursday press conference, Commander Brendan Deenihan of the Chicago Police Department detailed the allegations against Rolando Ortiz. Deenihan alleges Ortiz fled the scene after realizing he had murdered his son, Mateo Garcia Aguayo. Mateo’s remains were recovered Wednesday evening from a trash bag in the kitchen of Ortiz’s second-floor apartment in the city’s Little Village neighborhood.

Deenihan told reporters that Rolando Ortiz was at home with his 2-year-old son Mateo and the 2-year-old baby was running around and was keeping Rolando awake. Out of frustration, Rolando grabs the 2-year-old in the kitchen and holds him down. He then retrieves a knife, cuts the baby in the throat, causing his death.

Ortiz was arrested Wednesday night in Kankakee, Illinois, about an hour’s drive from Chicago. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson called the killing "brutal and horrific" during Thursday’s press conference.
Police allege that Ortiz called his wife after the killing, but was not able to reach her at work. Investigators said Ortiz and his wife work different shifts at the same business. He then called his sister-in-law, according to investigators, and allegedly told her he had murdered her nephew; she lives in the apartment below. The sister-in-law alerted other relatives and together, they went into Ortiz’s apartment, where they found Mateo’s lifeless body. Deenihan told reporters a kitchen knife recovered from the crime scene is likely the murder weapon, but forensic investigators have yet to confirm that.
Ortiz and Mateo’s mother have other children together, but none were at home at the time of the killing.

Yobe School Attack: My dramatic escape – Student

A 15-year-old student of the Government Girls Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe State, has revealed how she narrowly escaped being abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists that stormed their school on Monday.
In a chat with TheNation, Amina Mallam Usman said: “When Boko Haram came to our school, we thought they were soldiers because they dressed like soldiers. We ran, and then one of them called us. One of them asked me to come to the car.
I got close to the car, and then one of them started laughing at me. I moved closer to them, thinking they were soldiers. “I soon realized that they were not soldiers. As I made to run away, one of them tried to grab me. I dodged him but he got my hijab.
I quickly removed my hijab and left him with it and ran away. I thought I was dead. They entered our hostel again, but some of us ran into the bush. I ran up to five kilometres and hid in one Fulani settlement called Miligia.”
Asked how many students she saw in the invaders’ vehicles, Amina said: “There were many students in the vehicles.. They were up to 50 that were in the vehicles.”
She said she felt like the angels should take her soul the moment she realized the men were Boko Haram terrorists. She is not psychologically prepared to return to the Dapchi school.

President Buhari to address the nation on whether he will run for a second term

President Buhari to address the nation on whether he will run for a second term

President Buhari will soon address the nation on his plans to run for a second term or not in office. Imo state governor and Chairman of the APC Governors forum, Rochas Okorocha, disclosed this while speaking to state house correspondents after the Council of State meeting in Abuja last week, Okorocha said he hopes that President Buhari's decision will be favorable as himself and the APC governors believe Nigeria will be better for it if President Buhari continues in office.
We discussed so many issues that affect the nation, our party and Mr President’s ambition to run for 2019 elections. Anyhow, Mr President in his usual manner has requested that we give him time and that he will address the nation and the caucus of the party very soon. So we should be full of expectations that Mr President will make officially known to Nigerians his intentions. But we hope that his response will be in line with what the governors are thinking. We believe that if he continues Nigeria will be better for it.’' he said.

Samuel Jackson calls President Trump a 'Mothaf***a' over his suggestion to arm teachers with guns

Samuel?Jackson calls President Trump a

Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson has torn apart President Donald Trump’s idea to arm some teachers in a bid to prevent school shootings.

Jackson joined the growing chorus of critics of the plan with this tweet on Friday that reads, 'Can someone that’s been in a Gunfight tell that Muthafukka that’s Never been in a Gunfight, the flaws of his Arm The Teachers plan?'.

President Trump suggested the idea of arming 20 percent of teaching staff at schools during a “listening session” with students and parents who have been personally affected by mass shootings.
His speech has sparked an avalanche of criticism, with many teachers using social media to campaign against carrying guns at all.

Lily Eskelsen García, the president of the National Education Association, told Education Week there needs to be solutions to “keep guns out of the hands of those who want to use them to massacre innocent children and educators.”

King Togbe Ngoryifia Cephas Kosi Bansah, who rules over 300,000 people in the Hohoe, east of Ghana from a city in southern Germany, has built a jail for women in the town, the German Press Agency (DPA) reports.

The 69-year-old monarch, who has lived in Ludwigshafen since 1970, said the town has no jail only for women.
“Male and female detainees of all ages were held there and the women were subjected to sexual assault by the men,” he said. “This was an unacceptable situation - we needed to build cells for women.” he said.
The building is painted white and has three cells containing bunk beds. The cells have tiled walls as well as a shower and a toilet, features which are by no means standard in Ghana.
From now on women and underage suspects will be held at the jail. The jail will be adorned with a German flag, while a plaque acknowledges the financial contributions of the town of Heiligkreuzsteinach in Baden-Württemberg and Sonja Müller, another state resident.
While Bansah and his wife covered two thirds of the costs, the rest came from private contributions.

The monarch works as a full-time mechanic in Germany and governs his people over Skype.
Céphas grew up in Ghana but he moved to Germany in 1970 before he was appointed king. His kingdom consists of 300,000 Ewe people.
He originally moved to Germany when his grandfather, the then king, encouraged him to train there as a mechanic. After finishing his studies and gaining full citizenship, he settled and set up his own garage in Ludwigshafen. He continued living a peaceful life until 1987 when he received a Fax which would change his life forever.

His grandfather, the King of Hohoe, had died and Bansah's father and eldest brother were deemed unfit to rule because they were left-handed, which the Ewe people considered to be 'unclean'. This meant that Céphas was his grandfather's successor, and the new king.

He now lives in Ludwigshafen with his wife Gabriele Bansah, 59 and his two children Carlo and Katharina, continuing his job as a mechanic and his role as King. He uses Skype to govern his people and still visits Ghana up to eight times per year.

Allah will forgive me for leading the massacre of 58 school boys – Repentant Boko Haram killer

Before the Chibok girls, there were the Buni Yadi boys. Four years ago, Boko Haram insurgents attacked and killed 58 male students of Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Yobe state, for receiving “western education”.
Abdulkadir Abubakar, one of the attackers accused of being a Boko Haram spy and cell leader in Buni Yadi, recently had a chat with TheCable at a military facility where he is being detained, following his arrest in 2017.
According to him: “Myself and two other Boko Haram commanders, Abu Fatima and Paper, led most of the attacks on schools in Yobe between 2013 and 2014.”
He says the horrific attacks on schools and students were coordinated and executed through intelligence gathering and strategies mapped out under his supervision. He claims Shekau “unilaterally” ordered attacks on schools, mosques, churches and markets, and also ordered abduction and rape.
.“We were also the ones behind the abduction of students at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok. We also carried out attacks on schools in Potiskum, Mamudo, Damagun, Wagir and Ngarzarma, all in Yobe state,” he recalls.
“I wholeheartedly regret my actions and hope the Almighty Allah will forgive me. Allah said he will forgive whoever repents and asks him for forgiveness. I have repented and sought forgiveness.” 📸: Thecable

Igbos are lazy thinkers, acting strangely – Prof. ABC Nwosu

Ahead of the 2019 elections, former Minister of Health, Prof A.B.C. Nwosu, has described Igbos as lazy thinkers, who are acting strangely.
He made the revelation in a chat with Sunnews, when asked what the position of the Igbos should be in 2019. His words: “The Igbo are acting very strangely on 2019.
They are some lazy thinkers, who think that if you let the present order continue, and after four years, you just go and pick it because it is your turn. It won’t happen that way.
If the Igbo are not aggressive about who becomes president in 2019, and aggressive that they are in the centre of power, and they are represented in the centre of power, how can power where they are not represented be handed over to them in 2023?
What if the power where they are not represented hands it over to another person? Then you see the persons again drag out their knives and matchetes and go into the local markets and start shouting, Enyimba Enyi.

This is the time to struggle to be part of the presidency. They will either be the vice president completely and be represented in all national structures of power.”

Man U vs Chelsea: LIB Man of the Match - Jose Mourinho

Man U vs Chelsea: LIB Man of the Match - Jose Mourinho

On Sunday , Man U defeated Chelsea 2-1 to take home all three points despite conceding first in the first half of the match at Old Trafford .
Jose Mourinho, Coach of Man Utd, is our 'player' of the match for two main reasons .
1. He showed spirit of sportsmanship by reaching out to Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte, for a handshake before the game started, despite an earlier beef that occurred between the pair after Conte insulted Jose Mourinho by calling him a 'little man' with senile dementia .
Man U vs Chelsea: LIB Man of the Match - Jose Mourinho
Mourinho's attempt to shake Conte is unlike him, meaning he has matured over time and is ready to let bygones be bygones .

2. Mourinho's game plan in the second half was so articulate that every Man U player knew what to do and where to be located at each time. His timely introduction of Lingard - the match winning goal scorer , shows why Jose Mourinho is still one of the best tactical strategists in modern day football. To preserve the score line, he introduced Bailly to counter Giroud's aerial presence and switched to a 3 man central defence .

Congrats to Jose !!!!!

Governor Fayose reiterates call for President Buhari’s resignation, says; “His failure owing to cluelessness now more glaring”

Governor Fayose reiterates call for President Buhari?s resignation, says; ?His failure owing to cluelessness now more glaring?

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has reiterated his call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the present insecurity and economic problems in the country as evidence of the President’s cluelessness and inability to steer the ship of the country.
The governor said; “For a President that was elected because he promised to fight corruption and clear the Northeast of the Boko Haram insurgents within three months, the signs that he must take a bow and return home are clear even more than crystal.”
In a statement issued on Saturday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said latest events in the country, especially the abduction of over 100 pupils of the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, and the Transparency International (TI) damning report revealing that the perception of corruption in Nigeria worsened between 2016 and 2017, further vindicated his position before the 2015 presidential election that President Muhammadu Buhari lacked the required capacity to govern a diverse and complex nation like Nigeria.
He said; “President Buhari promised Nigerians that he will bring back the missing Chibok Girls and defeat Boko Haram within three months.
After more than 32 months in office, Boko Haram is still killing Nigerians, with herdsmen also on a killing spree.
“Painfully, the same Boko Haram they claimed to have defeated suddenly became strong enough to kidnap over 100 students. Now, Nigeria is not only looking for the remaining Chibok Girls, another over 100 innocent students have joined, this is unacceptable!
“Funny enough, a few days ago, the President called on all Nigerians to be prepared to pay the ‘ultimate price’ for the progress and unity of the nation and I wish to ask him what other price does he wants Nigerians to pay.
“Already, Nigerians are sacrificing their lives by getting killed while seeking what to eat. Some have even committed suicide! Yet, the same President who is enjoying all the benefits of his office is calling on Nigerians to forgo personal pleasures and pay the ultimate price. ”
Governor Fayose, who described those urging President Buhari to seek reelection as selfish people who do not have the interests of Nigerians at heart, added that no right-thinking Nigerian would pray to have the fate of the country in the hands of a clueless individual like President Buhari for another four years.
When President Buhari mounts the campaign podium, what will he tell Nigerians? Will he tell Nigerians that corruption and insecurity has not worsened than it was in 2015? Will the President say that Nigerians deserve to be buying petrol that they were buying at N86 per litre in 2015 at N180 now?
“Is President Buhari going to justify that within 30 months, Nigeria’s debt that was N12.06 trillion in 2015 increased by over N10 trillion?
“Fact is that Nigeria is under a rudderless federal government. Everything is now upside down, with everywhere in the country becoming insecure. What Nigerians expect in a situation like this is a clean break from this calamitous government and new breath of life, not a continuation of a government lacking direction.”

#ChibokGirls, #DapchiGirls and the conspiracy theory of kidnappings one year before presidential elections

#ChibokGirls, #DapchiGirls and the conspiracy theory of kidnappings one year before presidential elections

In 2014, just one year before the 2015 presidential elections, over 200 school girls were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok.

Now, in 2018 just one year before the 2019 presidential elections another set of over 100 school girls have been kidnapped in a similar way and a cross section of Nigerians are suspecting fowl play.

Many believe its more than mere co-incidence and maybe a level of politics is involved!

See the reactions below...
This could be a coincidence that this adoption of the girls in Dapchi is happening a year before the 2019 election, just like in 2014 @skola_tunde
We were told Boko Haram are defected and Government came up with idea of funding the tactically defected BH in the name of ransom to free some captives and we have Dapchi School Girls Abduction. Are the APC not stealing from Nigerians to fund its 2019 Election?
🤔
2014 eve of election year 2015 = Chibok kidnap of girls by BH

2018 eve of election year 2019 = Dapchi kidnap of girls by BH

These incidents are beginning to look more political than insurgent! NIGERIA STOP PLAYING CHESS WITH HUMAN LIVES! @MrAyeDee @OfficialPDPNig @APCNigeria
I want the families of the girls yet unaccounted for at the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi to know that no effort will be spared to ensure that all of them are returned safely, and the attackers arrested and made to face justice.
Chibok girls were abducted a year to 2019 election. And Dapchi girls too a year before election! Jonathan said it was APC that abducted them, so is it PDP that did this? Playing with our minds.
Nigeria is back to the path of 2014. Election comes up 2019, school girls from Dapchi are missing. Conflicting reports all over. Military is expected to rescue the girls as govt fact finding mission is to confirm what exactly happened. We are going around same cycle
Chibok girls were kidnap In 2014 a year before 2015 election, now Dapchi girl missing while 2019 election approches. Who is benefiting from this.? Nigeria @atiku @UN @CNN @BBC
April 14, 2014 over 200 Chibok girls kid'ped by BH ahead of 2015 election. Feb 18, 2018 over 100 Dapchi girls kid'ped ahead of 2019. ????

THE NEW NORMAL: When election time begins to approach, school girls start to disappear. In 2014 it was Chibok, election was in 2015, now it's Dapchi and 2019 is election year. ...I dey WAKA go WAKANDA embassy 2mrw, no time. @obyezeks
