Police IG warns against inflammatory statements on Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashes

Police IG warns against inflammatory statements on Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashes

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has advised Nigerians to avoid making inflammatory statements and playing politics with the herders/farmers clashes to achieve genuine reconciliation.

Speaking during the launch of his book in Lagos, Idris said that the security challenges needed to be properly managed so as not to drag the country into unending crisis.

“This is the only way the country can secure genuine reconciliation among herders and farmers so that they can once again live in peace, harmony, love and avoid unnecessary loss of lives.” he said.

The police I-G said that even though President Muhammadu Buhari mandated the security agencies to arrest and prosecute offenders in the clashes, the nation needed serious conversation on the issue. “I have realised that the issue is beyond apprehension and prosecution of offenders: There has to be speedy dispensation of justice and the protection of the rights and interests of the suspects and victims of crime,” Idris said.

According to the police I-G, this is the only way people will have a sense of justice, peace and reconciliation. “It is my conviction that when there is security, justice, peace and reconciliation in any nation, civil strife can be avoided. Inter-communal harmony and reconciliation is easier when the people are convinced that the police and other security architecture can guarantee them their individual rights, security and justice,” he said.

Idris said that the public image of the police was not impressive and called on policemen to respect the rights of the people while performing their lawful duties. “While performing their constitutional duties of protection of lives and property, the police must do so within the confines of the law,” the I-G said.

APC sacks Kogi state chairman and 38 other officials

APC sacks Kogi state chairman and 38 other officials
On Thursday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced the expulsion of its Kogi State Chairman, Haddi Ametuo, and 38 others from the party.

The ruling party hinged the action on alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities. The office of the National Vice-Chairman (North Central) of the party accused Ametuo and 38 others of working against the interest and progress of the party in Kogi State.

The list of the sacked executive officers also includes some local government officers of the party who were found guilty of working against the interest of the party. It would be recalled that the party set up a factfinding/ investigative panel which looked into allegations against the affected party officers.

The party decided to uphold the report of the committee which recommended the removal of the affected officers. The Kogi State chapter of the APC has been embroiled in crisis as some officers of the party were found to be openly working against the state government, particularly Governor Yahaya Bello. Kogi is being governed by the APC after a landslide victory in the 2015 general elections.

A single dad walked 11 miles to work every day until his co-workers found out and surprised him

A single dad walked 11 miles to work every day until his co-workers found out and surprised him

A single dad walked 11 miles daily to get to his 4 a.m. shift for 7 months but when his co-workers found out they surprised him in a big way.
21-year-old Trenton Lewis suffered leg pain as a result of the daily pre-dawn walks to get to work. Yet he told no one of his sufferings as he walked diligently for 7 long months to provide for his 14-month-old daughter, Karmen.
"My pride is strong," Trenton told CNN. "Whatever she needs, I'm the person who is supposed to provide it for her."
But his co-workers at a UPS facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, found out. And last week, they decided to turn his life around. They asked Lewis to come to a brief union meeting. When he showed up, disbelief was clearly written all over his face and he wore a grateful smile as his coworkers handed him keys to a new car.

A single dad walked 11 miles to work every day until his co-workers found out and surprised him

"I was emotionally moved. My heart just fell," Lewis recalled.
His colleagues found out he had been trekking when a staff, who seems to know and see all, got curious and began paying attention to him. Patricia "Mama Pat" Bryant, who Lewis says is like a second mum, got upset with Lewis when she found out he walks to work. Bryant who has put in almost 40 years at UPS together with her husband, Kenneth, then shared Lewis' story with her fellow workers and took up a collection to buy their determined colleague a car.
Kenneth Bryant said: "For a young person to decide in their mind 'if I don't have a ride, if I can't get a ride then I'll walk'. If a guy can do that, we can pitch in to help."
The group soon raised almost $2,000 with which they bought a 2006 Saturn Ion. Lewis' first ride in the car was to pick up his daughter for a bite to eat.
Watch the video of Lewis being presented with the car below.

Pastor says Christian men should marry more than one wife "to save a generation of women who are ageing without husbands"

Pastor says Christian men should marry more than one wife "to save a generation of women who are ageing without husbands"

Rev. Vincent Mulwa of Christ Pilgrim Restoration Centre, Kenya, has come out to challenge the Christian doctrine that men should only marry one wife.

In an interview with Kenya's The Daily Nation, Rev. Mulwa says Africans bought the world views of European missionaries who brought Christianity into Africa and abandoned polygamy, a practice that was rife even among the people who lived during biblical times.
Rev Mulwa said he wants Christian leaders to review teachings on monogamous marriages, claiming there is no verse in the Bible supporting it.
He says this is necessary to “save a generation of women who are ageing in church without husbands”.
“I have been in the ministry for 38 years, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ but now I have realised that we ministers of the gospel have lost our believers,” he said during the interview.
Rev Mulwa argues that many women are ending up unmarried and others are single and widows after they fail to get husbands.
“I have never seen anywhere in the Bible where prophets and preachers prayed for single ladies to get married. The Bible people were polygamous and everyone had a husband,” he says, adding that widows were allowed to become concubines.
He says polygamy was commonly practised by many African traditional communities and the Jewish culture was also polygamous, adding that it only began to fade with the introduction of Christianity.
“As far as the Bible is concerned, the number of wives or concubines that one has does not matter and is not a standard of holiness. I have come out to tell Christians that we must preach the true gospel and allow our men in the church to marry as many wives as they want. Polygamy is not about men needing many wives but it’s about women needing husbands."
According to the cleric, the Bible has only come out strongly to condemn adultery, which is taking another man’s wife.
The reverend argues that the fact that the missionaries, who mostly came from Rome, began to preach monogamy does not mean that this is what the Bible teaches.
“It is unfortunate for the Church that today, when our dear brothers and sisters attend theological schools, they are fed with so much gentile-tilted theology that upon graduation, they are well equipped to vigorously convince the world to buy into the Roman immigration of Christianity,” he says.
He says Christianity is not an American or European culture. Rather, it is God’s way of reaching and dealing with humankind.
Rev Mulwa, who says he is officially married to one wife, says he was preaching in a church he started 20 years ago but had to leave the church because his wife and members disagreed with his polygamy teaching.
“I told my wife that as much as she doesn’t want to agree with me, I will continue preaching the gospel of polygamy until the whole world hears of it because that is the true gospel,” he says.
When asked if he has secret wives to which he responds:
“The number of wives I have is not an issue. If I have one wife or more, I will not be holier than the other. That’s why I am saying Christian men should be allowed to marry many wives.”
His interpretation of the Bible is that it has not condemned polygamy. Rather, it was practised widely by men of God in the Bible.
"Polygamy is an acceptable practice. No lady should stay without a husband. Christianity remains the most holy faith, but when preached from the perspective of the European and American gentiles, then it is definitely the filthiest religion on earth.”
He gives the example of some of the men in the Bible like Abraham and David who married more than one wife and had concubines with whom they got children.
“The holiness was in how these men dealt with their many wives and concubines and God had no problem with them,” he says.
The reverend says it is wrong to imagine that God would have created two wives for Adam as “God created them so that they may fill the world”
He noted that in the Bible, some women seemed to have been in a complex situation such that remarrying was out of thought. They ended up being concubines.
But even for concubines, there was discipline, he says, and a man found with another man’s concubine was to be beaten.
“This was a lesser punishment compared to when you were found with someone’s wife where the sentence was death by stoning,” he adds.

'We parted ways 4 years ago and I never beat my ex wife' - Daddy Freeze explains again!

A non-fan attacked Daddy Freeze on Intsgram today and  he's replied with another explanation explaining again that he never laid his hands on his ex-wife.

    According to him,
'sometimes haters need to take a long, cold and hard look in the mirror, before they hate on other people. I put up pictures from a magazine shoot and this unlettered aunty, jumped out of the woodwork to lay accusations and brandish her hatred in very destitute grammar, highlighting her below par intelligence quotient'.
He continued to say, 'I never beat my ex wife and we parted ways 4 years ago, so why bring it up now? It's of no consequence. She has moved on and so have I! You will expect the haters to be living perfect lives driving Ferraris, mansions in banana island no way! They are scrawny, hungry, disheveled people, depressed at how poorly they turned out and are bescumbered with the dung of their attitude deficiencies, bearing the semblance of primitive mammals, God help them!'.

Higher institutions in Nasarawa State begin indefinite strike

Higher institutions in Nasarawa State begin indefinite strike

The Joint Union of Tertiary Institutions (JUTI), Nasarawa State Chapter today embarked on an indefinite strike following the state government’s failure to meet their demands on welfare issues.

The Chairman, Samuel Bashayi made this disclosure in a statement in Lafia.  Bashayi, who is also the Chairman of the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Akwanga Chapter, said the institutions involved in the strike are: College of Education Akwanga (COEA), College of Agriculture Lafia and Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia.

He said that the decision to embark on the strike was taken at the union’s state executive council meeting held at the state polytechnic, Lafia on Thursday.

“The strike followed the insensitivity of the state government to the plights of the affected institutions. The government has also failed to actively address the issues raised in the agreement reached between the union and the government,“ he said.

Bashayi added that in spite of repeated notices served on the government nothing was done to address our demands, hence the need to deploy the only option left to the union. He said that the strike was aimed at pressing home the union`s demands on the issues of workers promotion, annual increment, arrears, among other.  “We will go ahead with the strike since the government had refused to implement all outstanding promotions of workers in spite of the ultimatum. The union had given the state government enough time to put everything in proper perspective, but yet the government is playing politics with the issue,” he said.

He directed all workers to remain at home from Friday to await positive response from the state government.
