Chris Attoh confirms his divorce from Damilola Adegbite

Chris Attoh confirms his divorce from Damilola Adegbite
A few months ago, Rumour Has It on Linda Ikeji Tv broke the news that Actors, Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh are having serious marital issues.
Damilola denied the story after she posted a birthday shout out to husband, Chris proclaiming her love for him.
However, in a recent interview with BN, Chris Attoh confirmed that they are divorced. He said;
I believe throughout our marriage, It has probably been one of the most challenging things we have ever done, however, the key word is balance. At times when we both had to work, our parents would be there to hold the fort. God bless family because they were and still are very supportive.
However, since the divorce, we are obviously now reworking things to create a new balance between work, spending time with and raising our son.
Dami is a wonderful woman and an amazing mother. Despite our differences, she and I will always be friends. So more than anything we will find ways to continue to make sure that Brian can still have a balanced upbringing filled with love and support. Both our families have been and are still very supportive in helping us take care of our son Brian when we can’t be there due to work.

Sudanese gunman charged with murder after he opened fire at a Nashville church killing one and injuring six others

Sudanese gunman charged with murder after he opened fire at a Nashville church killing one and injuring six others
A masked gunman opened fire at a Nashville church on Sunday killing one and injuring six others. He has now been identified as 25-year-old Emanuel Kidega Samson, a Sudanese-born bodybuilder, and has been charged with murder.

A married mother-of-two, 39-year-old Melanie  Crow Smith of Smyrna, died at the scene and another six were injured when Emanuel opened fire at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ, 30 minutes southeast of Nashville in Antioch, as services let out at 11.15 a.m.

The attack only stopped after a brave church usher, Robert Engle, 22, ran up to wrestle with the gunman and despite being repeatedly pistol-whipped in the head, was able to force Samson to shoot himself in the leg. Then he went to his car, grabbed his pistol, and returned to hold the shooter at gunpoint until the police department arrived.
The hero of the day, Engle, whose two passions appear to be God and guns, according to his Facebook page, was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center along with the last shooting victim. The church usher, a former warehouse worker, lives in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Church parishioners said pastor Joey Spann and his wife Peggy Spann were also both shot. The injured were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A spokesman for Vanderbilt University Medical Center said two of the victims are critically injured, with four others in stable condition. All six patients are adults - three men and three women.

"The two critical patients suffered gunshot wounds to (their) chest and torso," John Howser, spokesman for the hospital, told the newspaper. "The four other patients suffered gunshot wounds to their extremities."
The shooter's condition is not life-threatening and he is under heavy police guard at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Police say that Samson, originally from Khartoum, Sudan but who now lives in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was spotted in the parking lot wearing a mask before he shot dead Smith.

"A gunman wearing a neoprene mask arrived in the parking lot and one woman who was walking to her vehicle was immediately fatally wounded by the gunman," Metro Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron said at a press conference.
The gunman, who went to Smyrna High School before studying psychology at Mott Community College, arrived to the church in a blue SUV then entered the church through a main sanctuary door and began firing multiple rounds. Before he went on the rampage, Samson made a number of cryptic Facebook posts on Sunday morning.
In one post, he wrote: "Everything you've ever doubted or made to be believe as false, is real. & vice versa, B."
In another, he wrote: "Become the creator instead of what's created. Whatever you say, goes."
Samson's public records do not list any criminal charges against him. He had lived in Rutherford County and in South Nashville near Burnette Bethel Church of Christ. Police are not aware of any relationship between Samson and the church or parishioners, Aaron said during the first press conference. Approximately 50 people were inside the church at the time of the shooting, officials say. All of those wounded in the shooting except for one person is over the age of 60.

After the shooting, Nashville Fire Department tweeted that it was a "mass casualty situation."
"This is a mass casualty situation. All of the wounded have been transported to area hospitals. The majority are older adults," the fire department tweeted.
Former Burnette Chapel Church of Christ pastor Bill Hunter said: "I'm just absolutely stunned, I can't believe that someone would come in off the street and start shooting."
Mayor of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County Megan Barry issued a statement about the shooting, saying: "This is a terrible tragedy for our city. My heart aches for the family and friends of the deceased as well as for the wounded victims and their loved ones."
She continued in the statement: "Their lives have been forever changed, as has the life of their faith community at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ. My administration, especially the Metro Nashville Police Department, will continue to work with community members to stop crime before it starts, encourage peaceful conflict resolution, and promote non-violence."

Cardi B is the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with no features in nearly 19 years

Cardi B is the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with no features in nearly 19 years
Cardi B's hit song "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)" has hit No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This makes her the second female rapper to top the Hot 100 without any other billed artists, following Lauryn Hill's first solo Hot 100 entry - "Doo Wop (That Thing) in 1998.
According to Billboard;
Cardi B is only the fifth female rapper ever to lead the Hot 100 at all. After Hill, Lil' Kim ruled for five weeks in 2001 with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk on "Lady Marmalade"; Shawnna reigned as featured on Ludacris' "Stand Up," which topped the Dec. 6, 2003, chart; and Iggy Azalea's introductory Hot 100 hit, "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, led for seven weeks in 2014.
Cardi B is also the first female soloist to top the Hot 100 with a debut track unaccompanied by another artist since Meghan Trainor, whose "All About That Bass" led for eight weeks beginning Sept. 20, 2014.
Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" dips to No. 3 on the Hot 100 after three weeks at No. 1. It keeps at No. 2 on Digital Song Sales (58,000, down 17 percent); falls 2-4 on Streaming Songs (32.7 million, down 18 percent); and is steady at No. 10 on Radio Songs (79 million, up 3 percent).

60million German people vote on Sunday

Angela Merkel: favoured to win Sunday election
More than 60 million Germans are eligible to vote in Sunday’s federal election which is expected to favour Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Though she is expected to cruise to victory in the elections, but she is also to face the breakthrough into parliament of hard-right populists for the first time in Germany’s post-war history.
Voting begins at 0600 GMT in Europe’s biggest economy and exit polls are announced at 1600 GMT, with few expecting surprises given Merkel’s double-digit poll lead.
For months, the woman now dubbed the “eternal chancellor” has been the favourite over her centre-left rival Martin Schulz and looked set to win another term and match the 16-year reign of her mentor Helmut Kohl.
To many in the West, a fourth Merkel victory will come as a relief in a turbulent world, with hopes she will serve as a calm-headed counterweight to US President Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin and as the key EU ally to reformist French President Emmanuel Macron.
But the election is also expected to mark a milestone for the four-year-old Alternative for Germany (AfD) which, like right-wing populists elsewhere, rails against migrants, Muslims and mainstream parties.
“The AfD’s entry into the Bundestag marks an epochal step forward for the far right,” said Joerg Forbrig of think-tank the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
By entering parliament, he said, “the xenophobic, revisionist and anti-European political force” will have heightened visibility and access to campaign finance, dozens of offices and hundreds of staff.
After a “vicious” campaign, in which the AfD demanded an end to German guilt over two world wars, Forbig warned that “German democracy is about to face its biggest stress test ever”.
At Merkel’s final major stump speech Friday in the southern city of Munich, right-wing activists tried to drown her out with whistles and vuvuzelas and chants of “get lost”.
But the 63-year-old refused to be derailed from her stability-and-prosperity mantra, telling the crowd that “the future of Germany will definitely not be built with whistles and hollers”.

APC slams Sagay, calls him ‘rogue elephant’

Professor Itse Sagay: counter-attacked by APC
The All Progressives Congress(APC) has hit the nation’s critic-in-chief, Professor Itse Sagay over his statement in a recent newspaper interview accusing the party’s leaders of being a bunch of unprincipled people, encouraging and accepting rogues into the party.
The APC in turn called Sagay, a professor of constitutional law, a ‘rogue elephant,” in a reaction issued by publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
“Our attention has been brought to an interview published on pages 46-47 of The Nation Newspaper of Sunday, September 24, 2017, granted by the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay (SAN).
“In the said interview, Sagay described the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “the most unprincipled group of people” who are “encouraging and accepting rogues” in the party. He said: “When I say ‘rogues’, I don’t mean stealing. In literature, when you say someone is a rogue elephant, it means people who are running riot and destroying the party.”
“The Webster dictionary defines ‘rogue elephant’ as “one whose behaviour resembles that of a rogue elephant in being aberrant or independent.” Clearly if we have today, anyone in our government or, by extension, the party who feels accountable only to his own ego; who does not feel the need to bridle his tongue for the sake of anything that is higher than himself; who feels independent of everyone and every institution; that person is Professor Sagay.
“Asked by the interviewer if he would stop speaking if the President asks him to stop speaking, he said: “Yes, he is my employer. If he tells me to stop talking, I’ll stop talking. But I have certain rights too that I can exercise in addition to that, because I’m not going to be in a position where I am impotent. So, I must obey him, but I can go beyond that and obey myself too. That’s it.” Framed in another way, what Sagay is saying here is that, no matter what is at stake, he would rather resign than obey the President if the President tries to restrain him. This is the quintessential rogue elephant behaviour.
“In his sheer arrogance, he forgets that it is impossible for him to call out the leadership of the party as “weak” and “unprincipled” without indicting the President, who is the leader of the party and has the fundamental responsibility to build the party. If Sagay had any iota of respect for the man who dug him back from inevitable oblivion and puts him in a position in which he now feels superior to everyone, he would channel his opinions and advice to the President on how to make the party stronger and more principled. It appears however that Sagay does not have anything constructive to say about anything. He only knows how to tear down and assault everyone and everything.
“We want to remind Sagay and all other appointees of our government that the only reason they occupy their current position today is because the APC won the election. There is, therefore, a matter of honour to show decorum and respect for the party and its leadership. You cannot love the fruit and hate the tree that produced it”.
Sagay had also had several verbal squabbles with National Assembly members, especially senators, asking them to jettison ‘distinguished’, which prefixed their title of Senators and has vowed to continue to criticise them for ‘bleeding’ the nation dry.

Buhari feeds 3m school kids

School feeding programme
3 million School kids benefit from Buhari’s feeding programme
Over 19,000 schools and about three million pupils  have so far been covered under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
According to figures released by the Vice President’s Office,  2,918,842 schoolchildren from 19,881 schools in the 14 pilot states of the federation have so far benefitted from the programme, part of government’s N500 billion Social Investment Programmes, SIPs.
N6,643,432,789 billion have been disbursed by the Federal Government since the school feeding programme kicked off late last year.
With 3,325 schools, Kaduna State has the highest number of schools so far covered under the programme, as well as 835,508 children, the the highest number of schoolchildren who have been fed.
It is closely followed by Bauchi State with an impressive  1,904 schools already covered, while 307,013 schoolchildren in the state have so far benefitted from the programme.
Benue State follows with  2,220 schools  and 240,827 schoolchildren  fed.  Ogun state is also a big beneficiary with  903 schools and 231,660 pupils fed.
Zamfara State also recorded a high number, with 1,952 schools covered and 198,788 pupils fed under the programme.
Osun state which pioneered feeding school kids since the beginning of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s  administration  has 1,850 schools  covered and 151,438 pupils being fed.
In Taraba state, 1,479 schools have been covered and 171,835 pupils fed so far,  while a total of 1,403 schools have been covered in Oyo State, where 107,983 pupils have been fed.
In Anambra State, 807 schools have been covered and 103,742 schoolchildren have been fed so far, while in Enugu State, 108,898 pupils in 622 schools have been fed.
In Ebonyi State, the school feeding programme has so far covered 1,050 schools and 163,137 schoolchildren have been fed.  Also, a total of 95,134 schoolchildren in 882 schools have been fed in Plateau State.
Delta and Abia states recorded 742 schools each, with 141,663 and 61,316 schoolchildren fed respectively.
With the commencement of a new academic session this month, it is expected that more schools will benefit from the programme, as more states would be added to the list, in line with the Federal Government target that 5.5 million schoolchildren would be fed by the end of 2017.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has explained that one of the reasons the Buhari administration’s Homegrown School Feeding Programme was conceived is to address problems of malnutrition especially regarding primary school pupils.
Prof. Osinbajo stated this earlier today while receiving, at the Presidential Villa, a delegation of Nigerian human nutritionists led by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar.
Abubakar, who came with leaders of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, had detailed the concerns of Nigerian professional human nutritionists on malnutrition challenges, and how Nigeria is faring regarding the global nutrition targets. The delegation urged the Federal Government to inaugurate a National Council on Nutrition to address the situation.
In his response, Vice President Osinbajo noted that the problems of malnutrition are part of the reasons “why we have the Homegrown School Feeding Programme to deal with the issues of human nutrition.”
He added that the Federal Government would be ready to collaborate with States where nutrition issues are most urgent in prioritising the implementation of the school feeding programme. Already, 14 States are benefiting across the country, with almost 3 million pupils being fed daily.
The Vice President stated that the government would consider inaugurating the National Council on Nutrition, urging the experts to come up with an action plan to effectively address the malnutrition challenges in the country.

North Korea vows to shoot down US bombers

North Korea Fires missile over Japan
North Korea vows to shoot down US bombers
North Korea’s foreign minister said on Monday that President Donald Trump had declared war  and that the country reserves the right to take countermeasures, including shooting down U.S. bombers even if they are not in its air space.
“The whole world should clearly remember it was the U.S. who first declared war on our country,” Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho told reporters in New York.
“Since the United States declared war on our country, we will have every right to make countermeasures, including the right to shoot down United States strategic bombers even when they are not inside the airspace border of our country,” Ri said.
“The question of who won’t be around much longer will be answered then,” Ri said in a direct reference to a Twitter post by Trump on Saturday.
The increasingly heated rhetoric between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is raising fears of a risk of a miscalculation by one side or the other that could have massive repercussions.
China called on Monday for all sides in the North Korea missile crisis to show restraint and not “add oil to the flames.”
Ri told the U.N. General Assembly on Saturday that targeting the U.S. mainland with its rockets was inevitable after “Mr Evil President” Trump called Kim a “rocket man” on a suicide mission.
“Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won’t be around much longer!” Trump said on Twitter on Saturday.
North Korea, which has pursued its missile and nuclear programs in defiance of international condemnation and economic sanctions, said it “bitterly condemned the reckless remarks” of Trump. They were an “intolerable insult to the Korean people” and a declaration of war, the North’s official news agency said on Monday.
Pyongyang accuses the United States, which has 28,500 troops in South Korea, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean war, of planning to invade and regularly threatens to destroy it and its Asian allies. The United States and South Korea are technically still at war with North Korea because the 1950s conflict ended with a truce, not a peace treaty.
U.S. Treasury yields fell to session lows after Ri’s comments on Monday.
In an unprecedented direct statement on Friday, Kim described Trump as a “mentally deranged U.S. dotard” whom he would tame with fire.
Kim said North Korea would consider the “highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history” against the United States and that Trump’s comments had confirmed his nuclear program was “the correct path”.

The organisers of the Miss Intellectual Nigeria, Znac Inspire, has commended Mr Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Youth and Sports for his support for the ” Not too Young to Run’’ bill.

The statement was signed by Znac Inspire’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Patience Oluwaseto.
“The Not too Young to Run’’ bill has offered the youth an outlet of being heard by the society.

Doctors resuscitate man in coma for 15 years

Illustration- doctors wake up comatose man after 15 years
A 35-year-old man who had been in coma and vegetative state for 15 years after a car accident has shown signs of consciousness,
This happened after a vagus nerve stimulator was implanted into his chest, researchers said Monday.
The outcome, reported in the U.S. journal Current Biology, challenged the general belief that disorders of consciousness that persist for longer than 12 months are irreversible.
“By stimulating the vagus nerve, we show that it is possible to improve a patient’s presence in the world,” Angela Sirigu of Institut des Sciences Cognitives Marc Jeannerod in Lyon, France, said in a statement.
The treatment, known as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), is already in use for epilepsy and depression.
The vagus nerve connects the brain to many other parts of the body, including the gut, and it’s known to be important in waking, alertness, and many other essential functions.
To test the ability of VNS to restore consciousness, the researchers wanted to select a difficult case to ensure that any improvements couldn’t be explained by chance.
They looked to a patient who had been lying in a vegetative state for more than a decade with no sign of improvement.
After one month of vagal nerve stimulation, the patient’s attention, movements and brain activity significantly improved, they reported.
The man began responding to simple orders that had been impossible before. For example, he could follow an object with his eyes and turn his head upon request.
His mother reported an improved ability to stay awake when listening to his therapist reading a book.
After stimulation, the researchers also observed responses to “threat” that had been absent. For instance, when the examiner’s head suddenly approached the patient’s face, he reacted with surprise by opening his eyes wide.
After many years in a vegetative state, he had entered a state of minimal consciousness, the researchers said.
Recordings of brain activity revealed major changes in areas of the brain involved in movement, sensation, and awareness, and also showed increased brain functional connectivity.
A PET scan showed increases in metabolic activity in both cortical and subcortical regions of the brain, too.
The researchers said the findings showed that the right intervention can yield changes in consciousness even in the most severe clinical cases.
“Brain plasticity and brain repair are still possible even when hope seems to have vanished,” Sirigu said.
The researchers are now planning a large collaborative study to confirm and extend the therapeutic potential of VNS for patients in a vegetative or minimally conscious state.
In addition to helping patients, Sirigu said the findings will also advance understanding of “this fascinating capacity of our mind to produce conscious experience.”*Xinhua

For misplacing his trousers, nursing mother sets husband’s 10-yr-old brother ablaze

 .
A 10-year-old boy, Chimobi, has been taken into protective custody by the Lagos State Government after his brother’s wife, Gift Igwe, allegedly set him ablaze at their home on Adenugba Street, Agunfoye, Ikorodu, according to a report by Punchng.
.
The offence of the Ishielu, Ebonyi State indigene, was that he misplaced his trousers and could not produce them when Gift demanded them from him. Residents who heard the cry of the victim, put out the fire, during which he reportedly passed out.
.
Chimobi was subsequently rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital, Ikorodu and Gift was arrested. A source said victim was brought to Lagos in 2016 by the brother to start living with his family.
.
He said since then, Gift had been abusing Chimobi, adding that matter came to a head when she set him ablaze that Wednesday. He said, “He is the younger brother of the man, who is a security guard in a firm.
.
He was not enrolled in any school after he was brought from the village. The brother wanted him to be assisting the wife, who had a baby about a year ago, with house chores and other things.
.
The woman has been abusing him for some time now. There are marks of past floggings on his body. He also has sores.” Chimobi, who spoke with Punchng, said he had some education before he was brought to Lagos from Ebonyi.
.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident. He noted that Gift had been granted bail because of her child, saying she was mandated to be reporting at the police station daily.

Holidaymaker drives home from France to U.K, only to find a migrant hiding in his car boot

A holidaymaker recently got home from France to find a 22-year-old Ethiopian illegal immigrant hiding in the boot of his Nissan. Dumbfounded Paul Edmunds, 59, was unpacking when he saw the man’s trainers poking out from among his bags.
.
Paul said: “He asked if he was in England. I said ‘Yes — well Wales, actually.’ He made a prayer gesture and smiled.” The man, who crept into the van at Calais, France, was arrested in Caersws, Wales.
.
Paul and wife Janet had stopped in the French port for a toilet break before taking the Eurotunnel shuttle back to Britain. But as Paul unpacked their Nissan Navara at home following a 4½ hour drive from Folkestone he spotted a strange pair of trainers.
.
Businessman Paul said: “When I saw a face I asked ‘Where do you come from, Calais?’ He didn’t speak English but was able to ask if he was in England. I asked him again where he was from and he said ‘Africa’.
.
He had a phone and was trying to contact someone here. I’ve never seen my wife’s mouth open so wide as when she saw him step out of the boot.”
.
