LIB Exclusive: 'Nnamdi Kanu was given a National attention that he didn't deserve' - Rochas Okorocha

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has spoken to LIB on the current Biafra agitation led by Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB.

In this exclusive chat, the governor said, 'IPOB is overpriced, these are young men seeking for relevance as a means of livelihood and that's too tell you how daft our country can be, any mad man can rise somewhere and make a name. Honestly, Its over priced, even the way it's handled was also over handled and I kept telling them that this boy (Nnamdi Kanu) is inconsequential in the matter, but he was given a national attention branding the whole IGBOs as IPOB and branding'.

He continued to say, 'Its laughable because you can't imagine Nnamdi Kanu telling us to follow him to war and we will follow him, that's the greatest insult to the people of this area but he was over handled. Anyone can come today and start a church called 'Kill every human being church', people will join you, there are always people for everything you do. I would have handled it differently'.

We asked how and he said, 'first I understand the problem that this is an agitation by a young man and I will make sure I circle him out from the rest of the society, make him a loner within that area and not allowing him brand the entire Igbo race as IPOB. There were no better people to stop Nnamdi Kanu than the Igbos themselves. Even ordinary youth group of the South East would have stopped him'.

But the youth seem to be behind him we queried, 'no its not true. You see when you start something and a bigger force takes over, everyone relaxes' he said.

Then we asked what the present state of the IPOB agitation in the South East is and the governor said, 'Its quite and calm. The military has shown its force even though most people criticized their overreaction but for what its worth, the area is calm and peaceful now'.

If this Bauchi Senator was born in 1974, how come his profile says he graduated from ABU in 1977...at age 3?

Hamman Isah Misau, the senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly is 43 years old, which implies that he was born in 1974, right?
However, according to a random search of his profile on the official website of National Assembly, by The International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) , Misau graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 1977 after studying Business Administration; and he holds a Master’s degree in Law, which he obtained in 2010.
So if he is 43, does it mean that he was just three years old when he graduated from ABU?
Could the graduation date be a typological error? Who knows!

LIB Exclusive: 'I've not dropped my ambition to be a president but If Buhari decides to run in 2019, I'll support him' - Rochas Okorocha

Before becoming the governor of Imo State in 2011, Rochas Okorocha had his eyes on the presidency but he tried three times and didn't get it.

In this exclusive chat with LIB, the 55-year-old governor says he's still not given up on the presidency come 2019 but he'll wait for President Buhari to make a decision before he takes any step.

In his words, 'I've not dropped my ambition to be a president, I'm only respecting the gentleman called President Muhammadu Buhari who I think has what it takes to show leadership in this country. He's the only one I respect that if he's running then I should support him because the man has the character that we need to develop Nigeria. He has the thick skin that we need because we have a faulty foundation as a nation but I see Buhari as that man who can build the foundation of this county but I don't see him as somebody who will build this nation with all the fantastic finishing but I see him laying the foundation upon which subsequent structures can be built'.

He continued to say, 'In 2019, I have several windows open, as I wait for Mr President to make his declaration, I want to be politically relevant in 2019 because I should be politically relevant to help the people of Nigeria and I have made that decision because I cannot watch this country go down the drain'.

Photos: Brazen thief walks into a luxury car workshop in South Africa and drives off with Rolls Royce Phantom

An unidentified thief who has been described by the media as 'brazen', stole a Rolls Royce Phantom from vehicle wrap installer located at The Glen Shopping Mall, Johannesburg on Wednesday afternoon.
The luxury car was found by police two hours later abandoned near a house in Riverlea.
Paul Maleke of Luxuries Wraps said the suspect came into the workshop claiming he was sent to collect the car by its owner.
The man then walked around the workshop while the crew attended to other cars. The next minute‚ the Luxuries Wraps team saw the car driving away from the workshop.
“Wrapping was already done when this man came in. We don’t know how he got the keys but we immediately called the owner as he drove off. The owner told us that he did not send anyone to collect the car. We then reported the matter to the police‚” said Maleke.
JMPD spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said police were led to the car by information from a member of public who spotted it speeding on the N12 freeway after it had been reported stolen.
“The suspect left the car in Riverlea and fled on foot as JMPD officers approached. The car was found in good condition. We believe it is worth more than R5-million. It will go through a verification process before it can be handed back to its rightful owner who is known to the police‚” said Minnaar.
Brixton police spokeswoman Constable Phumi Kraai confirmed that the car has been recovered and will be handed back to its owner soon.
Police are searching for the suspect.

Lagos State declares two-night movement restriction on Ikorodu road

Today, the Lagos State Government announced that there would be a partial restriction of movement on Ikorodu Road to enable it replace the dilapidated and disused steel pedestrian bridge at Fadeyi Bus Stop with a new footbridge.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Olujimi Hotonu, the State Government said the main carriage lanes of the Ikorodu Road would be closed to traffic for two nights on Saturday, 23rd September, between 11pm and 6am, and Sunday 24th between 11pm and 4am, while the service lanes will be open to traffic.

The Government also said all traffic both inward Lagos and outward Ojota will be diverted to the service lanes. While soliciting for the cooperation and support of all road users especially motorists plying the corridor to observe all the precaution signs on the road, the State Government said it had put in place effective traffic management strategies to manage the traffic during the period of closure.

The Government said the notice of partial restriction of the road became expedient to enlighten motorists and other road users to utilize alternative routes to avoid delay as well as obey traffic officers deployed on the road to ease movement. While regretting the inconveniences the partial restriction would cause, the Government appealed for caution, noting that the ultimate goal of the plan was to safeguard lives and improve traffic along the corridor.

'Political power can be vicious if exercised in disregard of democratic norms' - Gov. Wike calls on Church leaders to speak up against illegal and corrupt actions of the FG

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has called on Church leaders to speak up against illegal and corrupt actions of the Federal Government, inorder to stop the drift of the country into an era of unprecedented crisis.
Speaking in a keynote address today at Saint Paul's Cathedral in Port Harcourt, Wike called on the Church to be active moral guardians of political powers as instructed by God, in order to reassert its influence as a critical voice for justice.
"As long as the state of affairs in Nigeria does not conform to the ideas of justice, democracy, the rule of law and the moral injunctions of God, and as long as their remains no clear hope that things are going to change for the good of the country, we need as many voices that can speak truth to power and the Church of God cannot afford to keep quiet, while things go wrong and the nation continues to drift dangerously towards the cliff of crisis."
Governor Wike regretted that the fight against corruption has been politicised and skewed in a manner to oppress opponents of the Federal Government.

"People say power of any kind corrupts, but political power can be more vicious if exercised unchecked and in disregard of democratic norms. While we all support the Federal Government’s much-vaunted, but pretentious fight against corruptionit is patently wrong to fight corruption with corruption and double-speak or by side-stepping the rule oflaw, disobeying court orders and blackmailing the judiciary to submission. Unfortunately, this is the order of the day under the present democratic dispensation.
"How can the Federal Government justify the situation where former public office holders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are continuously harassed, hunted and hounded with corruption charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, while at the same time sparing those other members who defected to the All peoples Congress of similar investigations and treatment except the pure vendetta against His Excellency, Dr. Bukola Saraki for daring to contest the office of the Senate Presidency against the wish of the cabals in his party.
"What has become of the case of those who were arrested for printing fake ballot papers with INEC’s authentic serial numbers to be used to rig the December 2016 legislative re-run elections? Have we not been vindicated by the recent judgments of the election tribunals, which strangely but questionably accepted and based their judgments on the fake results presented to them from the custody of the Nigerian Police, which actively and shamelessly participated in the rigging process."

"I am not an extortionist or stripper. I had nothing to do with these recordings" - Kevin Hart's sex tape partner insists in press conference

Kevin Hart's sex tape partner, Montia Sabbag - who American blogs claim is a stripper, has denied being involved in the attempt to use the tape to extort Kevin out of milllions of dollars.
She joined her lawyer Lisa Bloom for a news conference today and acknowledged that although she had an intimate relationship with the married comedian, she didn't try to extort him. This was backed by her lawyer who insisted that her client was also a victim.
"I was involved with Kevin Hart a month ago. Since then my pictures and name have been released with lies written about me. I am not an extortionist, I am not a stripper. I am a recording artist and actress, and I have not broken any laws. I had nothing to do with these recordings. I hired Lisa Bloom to protect my rights. I am truly sorry for any involvemnt that I had in this," she said.

EFCC blocks ex-Minister Alison-Madueke’s offer to return to Nigeria for trial

EFCC on Wednesday successfully blocked an attempt by embattled former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to return to Nigeria from London to face trial.
.
Mrs. Alison-Madueke had fled to London shortly after she left office in May 2015, and has stayed away from the country since then.
.
She later became an object of interest to the UK National Crime Agency which has since then being investigating her for corruption and money laundering.
.
But it now appears the former minister is tired of staying in the UK, and now wants to return to Nigeria, where she is also being investigated for massive corruption.
.
As part of the plot, she recently filed an application before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to be joined as defendant in the trial of businessman Jide Omokore who is facing a 9-count charge for an alleged $1.6 billion fraud.
But counsel for Mrs. Alison-Madueke, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), suddenly, on September 18, filed an application for his client to be joined as defendant, based on the fact that her name was mentioned in count eight of the charge.
.
He sought an amendment of the charge to include her as the seventh defendant, “in order to give her the opportunity to defend herself”.
.
In the said application, the former minister also requested the court to direct the Attorney General of the Federation to facilitate her appearance in court in Nigeria on the next adjourned date in October 2017.
.
That would have meant Nigeria requesting Britain to allow her travel out of the UK to attend the court hearing. The EFCC however interpreted her action as a ploy to escape prosecution in the UK and frustrate the ongoing trial in Nigeria.
.
After hearing arguments by both parties, Justice Dimgba declined to grant the application, and instead, struck out the eighth count in which the former minister’s name appeared.
.
The verdict effectively ended her dream of returning home after holing up in London for more than two years. It remains unclear whether she would appeal the ruling. Crdt: PremiumTimes

France to make asking women for their phone number, a criminal offence

Wolf-whistling is set to be banned in France as the government declares war on men hassling women in public. Under proposed plans ,bugging women for their telephone numbers and following them could also be prohibited.
.
The crackdown comes after surveys show virtually all French women have been harassed on public transport, in the street or elsewhere at some time.
.
France’s new leader, President Emmanuel Macron, pledged to end this during his election campaign this year, Reuters reports. Only a few countries, including Belgium and Portugal, have banned such behaviour.
.
Marlène Schiappa, the under-secretary for gender equality, defended the plan and gave an example of behaviour that would be illegal. She said: “You are a woman in an underground train. I am a man. I follow you.
.
You get off the train. I get off. You get on another train. I get on too. I ask you for your telephone number. I ask again. I ask a third time. You feel oppressed. That is street harassment.”
