50 AK-47 rifles recovered from Nasarawa Deputy Governor's attackers

Muhammad Akazakwai, a kidnap kingpin said to have masterminded the recent attack on the  Deputy Governor of  Nasarawa State,  Emmanuel Akabe has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). 
The suspect was arrested at his mother’s residence in Kano where he was being treated for gunshot wounds, days after the attack in which 3 policemen and a civilian were shot dead. A source who confirmed the arrest of Akazakwai, told Punch that 50 AK-47 rifles were recovered from him. 
“We have arrested him and his mother along with  one  Mallam.” The source added, “While interrogating him, we recovered 50 A-47 rifles, which he claimed he inherited from his father. “We also recovered hundreds of GSM sim cards and other valuables from him.”

Two years after, University of Ibadan lifts ban on student unionism

Two years after its imposition, the Senate of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, has lifted the ban placed on students’ union activities in the institution.
The decision to lift the ban was reached at the Senate’s meeting of August 30, 2019 during which the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. I.A. Abiona, made a passionate appeal for the lifting of the ban to allow for the conduct of elections for the students’ body during the 2018/2019 session.
The institution’s Senate had on May 30, 2017 suspended students’ union activities until further notice following a protest over the delay in the issuance of digitised identity cards. On the proposal to lift the suspension, Abiona stated that 140 persons were tried in connection with the protest by the students’ disciplinary committee with some receiving sanctions while others were acquitted.

Pope Francis rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in Vatican elevator

Pope Francis was rescued by firefighters after he got stuck in an elevator for 25 minutes, ahead of his weekly address on Sunday, August 31.
“I have to apologise for being late. I was trapped in a lift for 25 minutes, there was a power outage but then the firemen came,” the smiling 82-year old pontiff apologized to crowds gathered in St. Peter's Square, Vatican City on Sunday, after showing up late for his weekly address.
Pope Francis said a “drop in tension” caused the elevator to block. He said that Holy See firefighters rescued him and asked the people in the square to applaud them.
He then went on to challenge governments to take “drastic measures” to combat global warming and reduce the use of fossil fuels, saying the world was experiencing a climate emergency.

Man hilariously calls out his mother for stopping him from having sex (video)

A Twitter user hilariously called out his mother for stopping him from having sex by coming over to his room to have a chat with his girlfriend. 
According to @Nukgettinrich, he was trying to have sex with his girlfriend when his mum barged in with his baby photos. He tweeted;

Over 6,000 Nigerians sue the National Assembly over plans to spend N5.5billion to buy luxury cars for principal officials

Over 6,721 concerned Nigerians as well as socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), BudgIT and Enough is Enough (EiE) have sued the National Assembly to stop it from spending N5.5billion to buy luxury cars for principal officials.  
The case which has been filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos seeks to “restrain, prevent and stop the National Assembly Service Commission from paying or releasing the sum of N5.550 billion budgeted for purchase of luxury cars for principal members of the ninth Senate, and to restrain and stop the Senate from collecting the money until the downward review of the amount proposed by the Senate.”  
In suit number FHC/L/CS/1511/2019 filed last Friday at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos, the plaintiffs argued: “Spending a huge sum of N5.550 billion to buy luxury cars for principal members of the ninth Senate is unjust and unfair.
